It's a hard one to call... Think I'd be just hoping for a decent ref with 20/20 vision

Henry's goal was clearly with the hand, but the referee didn't called it
playing in PAris, in a full stadium and LOTS of different interests... its FIFA
and Ireland will have to watch the world cup...on TV
u rated me accordingly? congratulations, well done, | | | | | Your post makes no sense. Ireland was robbed of a certain win by a cheating player and inept referee and linesman. Ireland was clearly the better team .

Suck it up fellas, I'm sorry the Irish went out, but let's be honest, you (and ourselves the Scots) have been lording it over the English over Diego's hand of God in '86 for over 20 years, it's football, not the end of the world.
Something tells me that international players aren't going to be losing their careers or livlihoods over this, so don't feel too sorry for those poor souls scrounging about on a measly £10,000+ a week.
Finally, take a look in the mirror. I didn't hear anyone down the pub criticising Keano's 2 failed attempts to get away with handball last night. As with all things in football, Henry just does it better than Keano.

Bah, I'll just have to make do with hanging my Swiss and English crosses off the balcony. The Irish one will be gathering dust somewhere.....

Ireland was clearly the better team . | | | | | Lets face it if Dunn had did it and sent Ireland through with a Keane header there would be no complaints (and before any one says anything, all professional players at some point try seek to gain an unfair advantage, whether its to dive, to exaggerate an injury or to bring down an opponent).
Is it right? No but Henry is a decent bloke who at least had the balls to say that he did it. Its hard luck on the Irish if they had not been so wasteful with the chances that they had then it wouldn't have come down to this one moment.
Well done Ireland for making the Irish proud. Well done France for getting through to the finals.

Why are FIFA being so quiet about this when it's on the back pages of all the World press? It really is about time for Herr Blatter to say something!

Gordon Brown must be thanking his lucky stars the ref wasn't English
Guys - they weren't going to win, even on penalties. They made themselves some good chances, didn't finish them - thats the way the cookie crumbles.

It's amazing that it has taken almost 150 years of professional football before anyone broke a law of the game.
I'm sure after this outcry, it will be another 150 before anyone dares to do the same.

| | | Re: (Cheating) French Football Player | Quote: | | | | | Exactly, the Fifa allowed the goal, a handy one at that. Henry admitted he touched it, what else can he do? | | | | | He could have (as the first player ever in history) told the referee in that very moment that he did it on purpose. Then the referee had to change his ruling. I guess there is no gentleman ship and honour left in this sport anymore. Gary Lineker.....where are you? |

Didn't see this quoted and it made me laugh, http://www.journallive.co.uk/newcast...4229-25205033/ | Quote: | | | | Republic skipper Keane....told BBC Radio Five Live: "They're all probably clapping hands, Platini sitting up there on the phone to Sepp Blatter, probably texting each other, delighted with the result." | | | | | I can imagine them High 5ing each other, probably true to. | Quote: | | | | Henry admitted the ball did strike his hand and claims he told the referee, who chose to allow the goal to stand.
The Barcelona striker said: "The ball hit my hand, I will be honest. It was a handball, you can clearly see it. (Sebastien) Squillaci went to jump with two Irish players, I was behind him and the next thing I know the ball hit my hand. It was a handball, but I'm not the ref. I told (the referee) but he said to me the same: 'You are not the ref.'" | | | | | If that is true then the referee needs a good talking too.

Wouldn't that be on a par with Match Fixing? Wonder if he had money on the outcome? |

The Irish-French relationship has just been one disappointment after another since 1798. |

I'd just like to remind people of when Sol Cambell "scored" against Portugal in 2004 and Urs Meier disallowed the penalty. English fans AND newspapers made Wikipedia defacement look like Kindergarten stuff.
I've told Urs that most English football fans took this on the chin and it was only the minority (in the thousands) that saturated his answering machine and email with threats and rants.
