| | | FC Zurich [no violence at football match]
I was at the Zurich - Basel game on Sunday. I'd heard it was a rowdy affair, and I should expect trouble. Obviously this was a Swiss usage of the words rowdy and trouble that I wasn't previously aware of.
I was, I admit, rather shocked at all the beer cans and glass bottles littered around the stadium before the game. It was very un-Swiss, and its not like you could even blame it on the foriegners.
I was rather less suprised to find it had all been cleared away by the end of the game.
When I discovered that beer was served throughout the duration of the game and that you could drink it in the stands, suprise was no longer adequate, and I was forced to revert to astonishment.
Which was nothing to what I reverted to upon tasting the beer
Imagine my reaction when, upon taking my seat in the home section, I discovered that a large proportion of the fans around me were from Basel. Unsegreggated crowds, beer in the stands, fireworks, a local derby - not suprising it gets rowdy and troublesome, I thought.
I was unduly worried, it seems. And so on to my final point. The stadium. It's 3 years old, and is falling down. It already looks like an english stadium from the 1920s. Perhaps that was why it was only half full.
To quote an old football chant '$h!t ground, no fans'
Not a bad second half though

There are only a couple of decent football grounds in CH.
Basel is probably the most modern - designed by Herzog & de Meuron (who else?) in 2001.
There are only a couple of grounds with equal capacity and atmosphere - usually Basel is full for matches. The Bern YB is one, which is the national arena akin the Wembley if I understood it correctly.
But yes, the Zurich ground is terrible (went there when Boro were playing in the UEFA cup).

Nothing happened though. Water canons my @r$e. Its a myth, it was probably fans who cleared up the mess outside. Oh, or thats what they used the water canons for.
Don't make me laugh. I was there, before, during and after the game. There was no trouble. Stop making things up.
A few fans sung songs to a strict itinary and threw a few fireworks, which the fire brigade were on hand immediately to put out. There was only half a dozen police in the ground, and no stewards. There wasn't even a hint of trouble. I don't know why people make up stuff like this. Stuff and nonsense

Errrrr...... reading your opening post here it seems like you're complaining about something. But for the life of me I can't see what there is to complain about.
This is Switzerland, not Moss Side.

I mean, the most vocal home fans (not very vocal, really, except at pre-designated times when they all waved their flags) sat as far as possible from the away fans.
We could of sat anywhere we liked there was that many empty seats, and did, as near to the away fans as possible, although thats not where our seats were. In england thats usually the best place for atmosphere. You certainly wouldn't see any away fans in the home section there, not without them getting a pummelling. Not that thats a good thing, mind you, the voilence, just a fact.

You look like you're always complaining.
And why on earth do people keep talking about mosssnide? what has this whatever it is got to do with anything?
Pathetic, thats what it is. Pathetic. I'm not complaining, but there it is.
Still waiting for someone to name the quote...not very well read on here, are you?

could be anywhere. And even so, a few fireworks and some police on the pitch? so what?
Anyway, even if it were true, its not exactly something to be proud of. Doubt they'd do anything in the Great Britain, or South Africa, are the Swiss there this summer? Probably a good job for them if they're not, poor things...
I was at an ozy rules cup final once between Collingwood and Adelaide in the Melbourne Arena, forget the name, its round and I think they play cricket there, the fans were singing a song about some player called Wayne someone or other who'd sh@gged his best mates bride in the toilets of the wedding reception while she was in her wedding dress, he was the best man, and got caught. That was a good song, quite funny, wish I could remember how it went. Anyway, none of the fans were segregated, and all drinking beer fn the stands from a fast bar. Needless to say, there was a riot.
Actually, that was just a bit of Ozy bull$h!t. Of course there wasn't. As if they'd be so liberal if they thought there would be any hint of trouble. Just like the Swiss. There was no mither whatsoever. And Ozy rules is probably the most voilent sport out there, including Ice Hockey, unless you count boxing or cage fighting etc. Alright, the most voilent non-fighting sport. Actually, hurlings pretty voilent. Well, anyway, its not a sport for girls, or soft lads at any rate.
Just trying to explode the myth that there is something to be scared of. There isn't. Not here, or there, at any rate.
Stop being scared

I didn't say you were complaining. I said your OP came accross (or sounded like ) a complaint.
And why do I look like I'm always complaining? (I'll let you into a secret, I'm one if the most chilled chaps here)
Mossnide???? You're a Manc right? It was a joke old chap (I'm from the right side of the Pennines)
Pathetic. Yes, I agree.
Name the quote? You've lost me there.

wow you went to the MCC and survived?
now did you go to Letzigrund looking for trouble?
You're better off going to a hockey game for a bit of aggro, to be honest. Or go to Helvetiaplatz for May 1st. Like tear gas? I bet you don't
By the way, the Boro match in the UEFA cup was at Hardturm and there was a little something kicking off due to GCZ fans not liking Boro fans taking over their bar. Earned the south end of the stadium a water cannon, it did |

I can see this is going to develop into another of menace's boring trolling sessions, where people post and menace argues the contrary view (regardless).
Here's a new topic for you to argue:

Menace in candystrip? Great catch!
Edit: the fact that the MCG has a capacity of 105'000 and Letzigrund 20-something has probably been lost on Denis.

Good night, and sweet dreams. | | | | | So that's why you look so grumpy, you're from yorkshire (that's on the right of the penines if you face north, which is the best way. It's the right place for Yorkshire too).
Ok, so you're cool, that's cool. The rest of this post is for everyone, so don't take it personally, please. I'm sure a chilled guy like you wouldn't have anyway, but oh my gosh, these days I have to be so careful, you never know who you might upset.
Ok, so it was a joke, its just that you're not the first, a few people have been inferring mossnide when talking about me and I'm not sure what they're driving at. Do they know more than they're letting on? Please, let me know.
No it wasn't a complaint, just wanted to explode a few myths.
Its a quote. From a book. Thats a thing with pages that you read.
For gods sake, stop putting things into google. That is not a skill. Its lazy, and Erroneous. Any fool can put something on the web. Doesn't make it right. Look at me. Use a brain, read a book, written by someone who is a leader in their field and peer reviewed. Then quote it.
So that's what I did, now can anyone tell me where it's from? It's not that difficult.
I've thrown loads of quotes in my posts, they're literally peppered with them. Don't think I've had a single one recognised. So it goes
Read books, not $h!te
Night night

The Ace of Spades is black. | | | | | God, all I did was post a story about what happened, or didn't, during a footy game I went to (and I didn't put that [no voilence at the football match] in by the way, that was the female okker Mod 22 yards), and eveyone jumps all over it saying this and that and trying to disagree when I was there and they weren't, and suddenly I'm the Troll? Man, you guys are goats, and to quote someone else, all take yourselves waaaaay to seriously.
I went to a game. It was tame. Nothing happened. Stop trying to make out like it did.
Nuff said; kill the thread

Desperate for attention. "Why hasn't anyone recognised my fabulous quotes?"
I find that stamping my foot and holding my breath until I turn blue helps to focus attention on me.
Alternatively, should you wish to continue trolling, I would be very happy to lavish attention on you one final time, unless I'm beaten to it by one of the other mods equally keen to satisfy your attention requirements.

So you're op should have said: "I went to a football game. Nothing happened. But the 2nd half was quite good.
BTW. Can you guess the quote ( from a book that I might have written, or might have read)
Good night (and for the last time I am not from Mossnide - where ever that is"
