I can spend 2-3 hours on a bike,
I thought that was just the warm up? There are some people you need to meet when you get to Switzerland.

but seriously, do something you enjoy, just getting out and moving regularly will help you shape up. It does not have to be intense, of course intensity helps one shape up faster but long slow exercise sessions on a bike, hiking, walking, all of that will help. Just find what you like but mix it up, doing the same things gets dull. So, cycle one day, swim one day, hike up a hill one day. The variety will keep you interested and work to build all of your muscles.

If I had more hours in the day, I'd spend them on my Merlin. Truth is, my family doesn't show up in CH until late July, so this'll be my first summer in many, many, many where I should have all the time I want to ride on weekends....

I suggest you try rowing. This does work nearly all muscles in the body and is a great workout. I would reccomend joining a club as it is great fun but if you are at a gym try the indoor rowers.

Re: The best sport to build muscle

As with so many things it starts in the head.

If you aren't tough with yourself, disciplined and go for the long haul it'll be an endless up and down and you will end up ever so frustrated.
Almost any sport will get you into shape rather quickly if you exercice it 2-3x per week.

Then there is the diet.
Even though you will notice with pleasure your body is muscling up fine, if you aren't disciplined with food, the fat will simply not go away.

I've been to the Sunstore Pharmacie the other day and I couldn't believe all the fat burner products I saw there. So I'd say go help yourself.

Most of all do it with a smile and with pleasure!!!

and burn fat....

Hello,

I am wondering which sport will build my body in general and the fastest way.

My muscles are growing quite fast, it doesn't take too long. I want to go back in shape but I need to see results quickly 'cause I know I'll lose my motivation.

Swimming, Jogging, cycling?

To all the sports experts on this forum, I'll appreciate your advises.

Re: The best sport to build muscle

As far as losing fat I can recommend a good cross trainer. But get a professional grade one (like from lifefitness), not one of those 500chf plasticy kettler machines...

Re: The best sport to build muscle

So, like an in any thread about fitness, I'll recommend giving CrossFit a go.
There is a CF gym in Basel and if it's anything like one here in Zürich, you'll find great trainers, a great comunity of people to work out with, and you'll have lots of fun while getting in the shape of your life.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Re: The best sport to build muscle

From what I've heard Crossfit will do the trick fairly well.

For losing weight, cycling/jogging has always been successful for me (a bit too successful). Of course coupled with intelligent eating habits for your specific body.

edit: Damn. Cesar beat me to it, as if it took me 4 minutes to write that. Good luck either way
