Paulie, just set it up in the Events calender for the 12th and pick a venue. I am sure people will sign up. I for one, will not be contented watching the match at home!
Excellent idea!

Good plan. I'll try and set it up - not entered an event before but I'm sure I can manage it!

Luzern

There will be one at the Bahnhof for sure.

Also an outdoor one at Aufschutti/Aufsetti (not sure of the spelling), it's the park by the marina behind the station (google map), I think it'll be in the car park.

I'm sure there will also be large expat gatherings at Pickwicks, Legends and Anfield bars.

Re: World Cup 2010 - public viewing/drinking areas?

So, checked the Reithalle yesterday. They do have a big screen and it's covered.

Free seating, no reservations. I was a bit disappointet by the atmosphere. But if you are a big group and go there early enough you might enjoy the game.

Kanzlei (Tent): Three big screens. Atmosphere usually really nice as it is near Langstrasse.

When it's raining I suggest the Razzia (Cinema) in Seefeld or the "Glatte Köbi" in the Exil.

Has anyone checked the Amboss-Areal, Rote Fabrik or GZ Wollishofen yet?

Dunno about any of the big screens, but Le Calvados sports bar on Idaplatz 8003 usually show English Sky/BBC/ITV inside for some matches & SF outside.
One of the guys who runs it is a Brit.

Re: World Cup 2010 - public viewing/drinking areas?

Hi all,

I've been in Zurich for only a couple days so a lot of these place-names don't mean a lot to me. Is the only outdoor viewing venue at the museum near the train station? That's near where I'm working so I'd be psyched to check it out. Don't mind having to pay a few SFr, esp if that keeps the volume of people down.

Other tips about good outdoor venues based on the first few games would be much appreciated. I'm Portuguese-American, so this game is kind of a big deal for me. In the second one, I'll be supporting Switzerland of course. Both should be awesome. Thanks!

DF
