Who would've thought it... There's a list of places for carp fishing right at karpfen.ch. Photos and German descriptions of the requirements for fishing at each place (also allowances) are available, too!

Anyone have any experience of fly-fishing here? My mate has just come over from Scotland and brought me a fly rod as a present, we had a great day on Chapfensee, a little lake near here, Saturday. Didn't catch anything, but still enjoyed it. There's a good river near here also that a neighbour has reccomended.

Brief translation, that's good It's a list of some carp fishing places in Switzerland. For each lake, there are the following sections: general description, information, photos and reports to the editor.
I suggest putting this URL: http://www.karpfen.ch/html/gewaesser/schweiz/index.php in the Babelfish Translator for a start. If you have specific questions, you can ask them later.
But keep a browser window with the original content open, too. Some translations are rather funny, especially the names of the lakes: Moss Lake becomes MOO Lake etc. |

Hey Rob !
Where did u move to ? Closer to Zurich or Bern ?
This Moss lake or "Moossee" just next to Schönbuhl is a nice lake, i went for a walk around it with my son the other week. Trouble is with the nice weather there's a lot of boats and swimmers in there . Should be alright closer to autumn and spring though.
One whole side of the lake is completely covered by reeds and could do with a bit pruning, but the road side has a few nice swims.
I just need to get tackled up again, i sold all my gear in England b4 i moved out here 14 years ago, Doh.... Think i'll order in the UK and get it sent out here, cos the tackle shops that i've seen, seem to only stock fly and match fising gear, the up side being of course that there can't be too many carpies out here as of yet !! |

Hi Guys,
I moved to a place 10miles West of Zurich. There is a lake called the Turlesee here which looks promising. Had a look round but didn't see any fish......same problem as problem as Marcus. Waether to good and too many swimmers. Spring may be good though.
Did see some very large bream in the margins at Rapperswill along with a couple of smaller carp. I reckon this area could be very good indeed, but need to check out the rules.
Balkan Carp team looks interesting. Couldn't quite make out the maps on the site, but looks like you've got water somewhere near to Basel. S2sinner, do you have open membership? Can anyone join the club and fish your water?

I've never been carp-fishing, but last time I was down in Rapperswil walking on the wooden dock/pathway I saw plenty of large ones.

Just been there today !
Only a 3 hour session though (Blanked!)
The lake is nice, but lacking in swims. There's about 8-10 fishable swims on the whole lake I guess they count on thier boat hire and Pike fisherman ! Day ticket is 19 francs and half day from 1.30 pm is 10 francs.
Reequiped my self through ebay.co.uk for about a 1000 francs and im away again !
If anyone wants to sort out a trip next season,(this one closes end of Dec. till May),Rob, Nigel, drop me a message !
P.s. Found another nice lake in the Jura mountains near Saignelegier (Etang de la Gruère) not to be mistaken with the Lac de la gruyere , but its frozen solid at this time of year !! | Quote: | | | | | Marcus,
