What's the least you could pay for a 1-year gym membership?

I've been quoted about 2000 chf at the first place I checked. I don't know where this falls on the scale of Swiss prices but it seems really high to me. What's the least one could pay for a gym membership?

If there is any chance that you are affiliated with the University system, I just signed up for a year with access to several gyms around the city for 200 CHF. (My husband works at the Uni)

http://www.activfitness.ch/

Owned by the Migros group.

Annual membership is roughly CHF700-800.

Basic. No frills.

I joined www.jfcb.ch. I think its a good one! There is one right at St. Jacob Stadium and the other near the University Hospital (off Tram 11).
I pay for going to both locations 105CHF per month (90CHF if you only go to 1 of their locations)

Silhouette tends to be cheap.

But my advice is go for the gym which is easiest to attend - from either your work, home or a combination of the 2.

If it is out of the way, annoying to get to, or simply not a nice place to train - you won't go - and no matter how cheap it was - it will be money wasted.

I think full retail at a single Silhouette is around 1200chf.

Don't forget to check your health insurance policy. Mine reimburses me 300 CHF / year on my gym membership.

When I sign up each year at the gym, I just ask for an insurance certificate and then submit it to health insurance.

Active fitness and Silhouette are cheap, but a bit ghetto (older equipment, sometimes ergonomically outdated and dangerous). You get what you pay for.

For a few hundred more, about 1k chf, Migros Fitnesspark is much better (www.fitnesspark.ch). There is an option to pay 100chf more for access to all Active fitness centers as well.

Ah, almost forgot: Fitnesspark has a summer deal on for 190-240 for 3 months. Try before you buy...

Re: What's the least you could pay for a 1-year gym membership?

I'm a member at Fitnesspark and can thoroughly recommend it. Paying around 1300CHF, can visit three different gyms in Zurich and includes access to spa, sauna and courses.

Wish I could find a gym where I can only pay for courses and the spa/swimming. But that's just me dreaming I guess.........

I pay around 950.- p.a. and my gym is open from 4am-midnight every day of the year.
It's 3 floors and the price includes sauna etc.
It's not in Zürich though
