EF 2010 Golf Tournament

Hello fellow golfers!

Time to see if there is interest in having an EF golf tournament. Target would be August or September.

To gauge the interest, I have set up this poll. If there is interest then we will make it a go!

I'm interested, although I've not played for many a year ... (and was never very good)

Hope lack of abillity won't prevent me from taking part

I can second that; not played for a while and wasn't that good to start with but, would still like to thrash around.

Are handicap certificates required for course entry?

This is great, but we have to know where would be the possible venue.

To be determined. I have access to private clubs Kyburg and Sempachersee, but I am sure we can find a suitable venue.

TBD, but I assume the answer is yes to get access to the course. As for the tournament, we would use a methodology that does not require handicaps.

Sorry monkey, that is where I live so most likely in Zurich area unless we can find a suitable spot in the middle. I have no problem travelling to Geneva if you want to take the lead organizing there!

Perhaps Editor Bob can step up to the plate...

I'd be interested although I do not have any official handicap. Actually my handicap is my handicap. Not played in a long time.

Of course, is anything simple here in Switzerland?

Re: EF 2010 Golf Tournament

I believe that we should play 18 holes Stableford, full handicap+slope, so everybody has a chance to win, especially those with the higher hcp.

Also, I have found a Sponsor that is happy to give us 4 prizes for the 2010 EF Golf Tournament.

And they would be distributed as follow:

The winner will receive a putter like the one that helped Justin Rose winning 2 tournaments this year, the new TaylorMade Rossa Ghost Corza as mentioned here http://www.taylormadegolf.eu/putters/rossa-ghost.html

The second will get one of the lightest full size bags on the market, a TaylorMade Pure-Lite Bag, you can read more in this link http://www.taylormadegolf.com/mainle...s/bags.html#30

The third will get a fantastic Rolling Duffel bag by TaylorMade, as seen in this link on the second picture http://www.taylormadegolf.eu/accessories/other.html it's really practical, with plenty of space and good quality wheels.

And the last player in the classification, that one with the worst luck of the day, for those rainy days, will receive a huge umbrella of 68" by TaylorMade, like the one you can see in this link http://www.taylormadegolf.com/mainle.../other.html#30, with it you can walk down the rain with your whole family in!

So if you are happy about it, and thanking TaylorMade Golf for their help, we will have some prizes for our exclusive tournament!

We just need a date and a place!

Re: EF 2010 Golf Tournament

I am in if the date fits, a bit of a worry with some many non hcp players in finding a course, maybe an away day to DE as you can play there with a 54 hcp

Re: EF 2010 Golf Tournament

I got a handicap but lost my confederation card....and no longer part of a club. There is however an online golfcourse that will send you one for 150 chf per year...might be an option

Don't you think it would be a better idea to narrow the date first...then we could have a look at the possible venues.

Re: EF 2010 Golf Tournament

I just saw this thread today.

-weekday is better than weekend. But both ok. I would not expect get a tournament spot on the weekend unless you book much much earlier.

- ask the golf courses about players without handicap. I have played tournaments where they allow one non-handicapped per flight.

I have played in about 30 tournaments in the last 10 years organized through my company or group of friends, and not once have I been asked to show my handicap card. I don't know why, but it could be that they expect the organizing group to do the vetting?? But then again, we have been banned from Holzheusern because of the poor quality of play and slow play!

- golfers paradise is known to sponsor tournament prizes, they give gift vouchers to spend at their golf shop. Worth asking if we have more than 20 players.

- I suggest besides the Migros courses, the courses just across the border like Obere Alp, Steisslingen, Oeschberghof.

By the way, anyone fancy a casual round sometime? I am 12 handicap in Thalwil.
