| Hello everyone. I am interested in playing some tennis in Lausanne but I am not sure how the clubs work here. I have heard that there are some clubs that you can just sign up and according to your skill level they will arrange opponents for you. Is that true? If so do you know more info about it?
Anyone interested in tennis? Intermediate level. | |

Hi antanast.
Well, you should've opened a separate thread for your question cos this one's about courts

.
Anyway, referring to your question...
The clubs here work pretty simple. You pay an entrance fee of about 500 francs (depends on the club how high it is and whether there is one at all), an annual member fee of about 700 francs (depends also on the particular club, this one is meant for open-court clubs only) and you can play against other club members as often as you want to. For games between club members and guests see the club guidelines. In certain clubs there is also a possibility to take a one- or two-year sniff-subscription which is much cheaper. Usually you can become a member anytime.
Games aren't organized by the club. You have to call the club members or chat with them in order to arrange matches, you can also post your interest on the club's blackboard if there is one. There are a couple of fun-tournaments during a season and one big club tournament, usually in the end of summer.
If you don't get enough games or don't want to be a club member, you can apply for a player's licence which costs 60 francs for club members and 160 francs for the others per half a year. Then you can take part in tournaments for licensed players anytime you want (participation fees vary from 40 to 120 francs per tournament

). You can also take part in the Interclub games with your licence. Interclub is a tennis league where club teams compete against each other at different levels. For more info get in touch with your club's organization.
