I'm sure a lot of priests in Switzerland and abroad have gotten away with many things but retroactive laws are not possible under european law (or US law for that matter). Prior to 2008 the statue of limitation was reached when the victim turned 25.

Pedophilia is a social issues, it is not a due to a "evil" gene...
And pedophilia (as well as rape) has nothing to do with sexual desires, it's all about control.

A person is guilty when committing an act (physical or psychological) against somebody who :

A. does not agree
B. is below a certain age, which means can not understand the context of the action

so prevention, control and alertness are key words

and NO the society will NOT accept pedophilia! - never ever...
