| | | British bankers going to Switzerland up 28 per cent
From Channel 4 News | Quote: | | | | The number of british bankers migrating to Switzerland rose by more than a quarter last year. The fresh air, the mountain clocks, an efficient public transport system and most importantly low taxes – what more could the discerning overbashed banker from Britain want than to go to Switzerland? | | | | | | | The following 2 users would like to thank Deep Purple for this useful post: | |

As long as they all go to Zurich that's fine.

English speaking media, not so much. | Quote: | | | | | > low taxes ? with the overpaid salaries of these bankers, they simply could go part-time and then save taxes quite easily | | | | | Yes, and you could take a pay cut and not have to work as hard, but that's probably not in the cards. | Quote: | | | | | > efficient public transport ? public transport in Switzerland in fact is modelled after the public transport in Britain, as many Swiss in the 60ies, 70ies, 80ies, 90ies and up to now went to Britain and learnt to know London Transport and "British Rail" (and the private companies which came out of this | | | | | Been to Britain lately? | Quote: | | | | | > fresh air ? strangely enough, those bankers go exactly to areas in Switzerland where the air is rather NOT fresh at all, but almost as polluted as in Paris or Athens (in case of doubt worse than in Central London) | | | | | You're trying to tell me that the air quality in Zürich is worse than in London?

Mostly hedge funds relocate to Geneva. The Canton did agreat job with roadshow in London explaining all the benefits they can have by moving there. I heard of others going to Zug, not many to Zurich.

No, last time was in 2000. Then, a year later I preferred Moscow Zhukovsky, based on some info I had got in late September 2000 in London. | Quote: | | | | | You're trying to tell me that the air quality in Zürich is worse than in London? | | | | | -
international statistics show that London is superb if compared with Paris and Athens and that central Zurich is only marginally better than Central London |

Sorry, I'm an ex Londoner and one of the many reasons I move over here was to get away from the filthy London air. I lived just off Oxford street and when there was no wind blowing away the car and diesel fumes you could hardly breath.Zurich may not be pollution free but at least you can hop on the dolderbahn and breath in the fresh forest air!

Separating sections for swimmers, and sections for paddle boats.
They also should relocate the ugly Battersea Power Station to Streatham or Crawley and enlarge the Boating Lake below the Queenstown Road into the former Power Station area.
And an engineeer with a name like "Ivel" should construct a vast tower, about 300 meters in height and on top a platform of a diameter of some 500 meters, and in the midst of the platform a wine-pub, and around the pub some nice gardens with ways through. And in one corner a Mini-Golf place, and in one a souvenir-shop, and in another one a shop selling good wines and beers.
And finally, in the White City area just to the West of the West Cross Route, they should build something like the Alpamare in Pfäffikon/SZ on the Zürichsee, but only about 10 times larger and twice as high.
By some productive steps, the air and the quality of live in London could be greatly improved

alright, you cannot produce mountains in Britain, in a country where even slightly elevated places are named "Downs" , but there is no hindrance to improve the British watches industry to world leading standards. And you in London and elsewhere in Britain can purchase the whole variety of Swiss watches. |
