| | | Murder at the Euroairport (Basel-ish) | Quote: | | | | An air traffic controller has been found stabbed to death at the EuroAirport outside Mulhouse, France, near the Swiss and German borders.
Police say the 34-year-old was found in a pool of blood in an office in the control tower that is accessible only with an identity badge. | | | | | http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-13212343 |

It of course is tragic most of all for the victim and his family and his friends. But it also is horror for the more than 120 people who had access to that area of the airport and now have become SUSPECTS.
The most concise report I found is the one in "Alsace" http://www.lalsace.fr/actualite/2011...9169655#galery
and "towards 8" means that lots of the suspects of course have no alibi

Being one of more than a hundred people suspected of being a possible criminal is hardly my definition of horror.

In case of murder, the situation is far worse.
Read that the French Gendarmerie already has linked up with the two Cantonal Police Corps of Basel, to carry on the investigations.

Police are looking for a 34 year old ATC trainee. He had apparently been in an argument with the victim earlier, due to personal differences.
The man is currently on sick leave and apparently has mental problems. A dozen police officers stormed his house in St. Louis on Wednesday evening only to find that he wasn't there. http://www.20min.ch/news/kreuz_und_quer/story/30061261 (German)

The classic murder suspect though, mental problems and had a fight earlier in the day.. he^ll do well to get out of that one.

The suspect was an ATC trainee? I thought that was one of those jobs where intensive personality testing was done first, to ensure that only very calm, sane people were in ATC, controlling our airborne lives. Now I am woried.

I don't want to excuse this guy's behaviour, but I wonder if the stress of the job was a factor in the homicide? In my country, what we're worried about is air traffic controllers falling asleep---not killing their boss!
