| | | Angry man on the roof in Gundeli, Basel
Anybody know what's going on?
He's angry and upset, but I can't understand what he's saying.
He's got lots of water bottles with him, which is hopefully a good sign that he's not going to jump |

My Uncle Bertrand just called to tell me he's miffed that Orthon didn't come to collect him as promised, and that he's going to stay up there until he receives a sign (an interplanetary SMS, presumably) from his Venusian friends.
So that's that mystery solved. | | The following 5 users would like to thank Dougal's Breakfast for this useful post:

Here's a link to the story (in German) in 20 Minuten: http://www.20min.ch/news/basel/story...t-auf-21577251
In summary, I think they're saying they're not sure what's prompted him to go on the roof and throw things, but he has a history of psychiatric care and had been recently shouting at his girlfriend at night (relationship problems?). But my German is only okay, so I may have missed something.
I was waiting at Tellplatz trying to get home to the Bruderholz and saw the police tape, crowd, fire engine - the fact it was *such an unusual sight reminded me I don't live in Reading anymore | | The following 6 users would like to thank maudthecat for this useful post:

Last night as I was walking home at about 3am I saw the police being active around Tellplatz. No idea what they were trying to do though.
When I lose my marbles I want to go out just like this guy - throwing everything possible off of a roof. They send water bottles and ciggies up - he threw them right down again. He threw his shoes down. Roof tiles, whatever, anything he could find he threw down.
Ask any two-year old; there is a primitive pleasure in throwing things to the ground.

Why this needs to be dragged out I don't know. Tear gas the guy or stun him. Heck, why don't they put a sleeping pill or two the water they are giving him. If he falls, so be it, this is just ludicrous.

I am so dumb sometimes...I have just realised that this is why the tram line 15 has been affected the past few days. Duh!
My plan would have been to close the area off and leave the fool alone. Best way of dealing with a tantrum in my experience. that or threaten him with bed....
