| Is the complete (yes, complete) security ineptitude of the Swiss because of the federalisation of the responsibilities. Sometimes I walk down the street and see a "Zurich Kantonalpolizei" I think, "lord, imagine what the Uri Kantonalpolizei must be like". I then chuckle to myself. It doesn't seem there's enough centralisation of these sorts of things. Also there's a bit of new agey-ness to the Swiss way of doing things. I believe in prisoner rights and I don't believe in the death penalty, but come on, if you've been caught escaping once, if you've been put in jail for murder, released, convicted again of rape, you don't get to see a public park again. Whatever happens. Crazy murderers and rapists get to run around and play basketball behind prison walls. Forever. | |

I agree with your post. However, like I mentioned in the thread about the last fugitive, there is something fundamentally wrong with Switzerland....it ain't the 70s anymore. They need to step up their game and become up to date with the world again...because guess what, if you impose all sorts of rules and regulations on the common person and be lenient with the drugs abuser, the convict and the rapist....people who are valuable to the country (tax dodging expats, teachers, Doctors) are not wanting to stay here anymore...there are pristine Alps in France, Austria and Italy as well.
