Private plane crash- 2 British men die NE

Just heard sad news that a small private Piper plane which had taken off at Colombier (Neuchatel airport) crashed just a few miles away in Grandson near Yverdon on Friday. Both British men died- one 40 years old lived in Neuchatel, the other, 29 who was piloting the plane it seems, in the UK.

Does anybody here know who this Neuchatel inhabitant was, no details given in the local paper today. Sad news.

As I read the local papers and realise that many ex-pats do not, I put some of the events or news here for info in case it might be of interest to a few.

A Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee Cruiser lost radio contact about 30 minutes after take off on a flight from Neuchatel Airport (LSGN), Colombier, Switzerland, to Amiens-Glicy Airport (LFAY), France. The aircraft went missing till it was found at 16:30 LT in wooded area near Petit Beauregard, north of Fontaines-sur-Grandson, VD.

Both occupants (a 29year old english man and a 40year old swiss) were killed.

As we are an ex-pat community with many Brits, I did wonder if the man from Neuchatel was known to us on EF.

That he was a CH citizen does mean anything really. And so, he may well have been known to us on EF

In another crash overseas ( Botswana ), 3 of the 8 dead were Swiss.

Today's paper explained that they were in fact Iraqui kurds, one living in CH, one in the UK.

Iraqi Kurds ? Tragic to realize that was possibly either a re-union of friends or of relatives hand to end this way
