A dead pig and four pig heads were buried on the site of a future mosque in an anonymous attack against “rampant Islam in Switzerland”, police have said.

The attackers sent anonymous letters to the media in the region near the Granges ( Grenchen ) mosque site in canton Solothurn, police said on Friday.

In the letter they said they also poured 120 litres of pig’s blood on the ground, saying it was test of Muslim faith whether the mosque would be built on the land afterwards.

I've said it here before, but when right wing parties are allowed to use such inflammatory rhetoric as we have seen in recent years, while the leaders of the SVP may condemn such actions, what they do is they move the whole spectrum to the right which just uncovers and partially legitimizes extreme acts like this

How about replacing the terms "right wing parties" and "SVP" with "parties close to either end of the spectrum" and " SVP, SP etc." respectively?

Linking this to anything under the heading of "politics" is a non-starter. This isn't "political" it's inhuman, inflammatory and downright nasty bordering on criminal.

After the hoo-hah that went on in the UK the last couple of days where the police were trying to stop extremists from defiling the Armistice Day parade in London with some poppy-burning demonstration, this is exactly the same behaviour but from the other side of the fence.

All as bad as each other and definitely doesn't deserve a "political" label.

Fortunatly for muslims, it isn't forbitten to own pigs or to have them on your land... It is only to eat them. It is for health and hygiene reasons. If you have to take meds that contain pork in it and you don't have other options available, you take the pill, it is common sens.

So basically, I don't see how it should stop a mosque to be build. They manage very well to show us how dumbass they are though...

When the building starts, the whole ground will be taken away anyway. And there is nothing in Islam which prohibits the erection of a Mosque on land where there were pigs before. I do not quite see what those xenophobes really have in their minds


Cédric Wermuth may enjoy to use a relatively aggressive rethoric, but he is miles below the level of Toni Brunner and Christoph Blocher. Being a bit "fresher" than boring Mr Levrat of course is his advantage

there was an email few weeks ago with a story about a possible mosque in america but someone poured blood and buried a pig and the plans were withdrawn.

i gues whoever was involved read the same email

I do not believe that the "poured blood" and the "buried pig" were the real reason why the plans were withdrawn

its not what i said, that was the content of the email

Actually live pigs not allowed to be kept on a Dar al-Islam territory. There was an ugly story in Iran after revolution, some 300k heads been barn alive. In UAE as well, you can get a pork meat at special sections in supermarkets, but it’s imported, no ways to organize local farm.

While you can't actually raise pork ON the land of Israel, you can build a platform, and raise pork ABOVE the land of Israel. Providing that the pigs don't touch the land itself.

There is always a solution.
