| A swiss "DSK"-like affair in Geneva?
A genevese politician is involved in a mini-scandal relayed (way too much i my opinion) by the media in the romandie. A good case to compare cultural differences based on reactions to an incident involving a politcian. Background: Mark Muller is the cantonal minister responsible for infrastructure in Geneva. He is from the Liberal/Radical party. Incident: on the 31st december Mark Muller was having fun in the personnel WC with a waitress of the bar. The barman and also manager asked him what he was doing there (according to the barman he didn't know or recognized Mark Muller). After Muller left the scene, the barman rebuked the waitress. He then went outside to smoke a cigarette. He was then attacked from behind by a man who was beating him and shouting "you humiliated my friend, I'm gonna kill you" and a fight followed between Muller and the barman. The barman filed a complain and the incident is under investigation.
His party the PLR is asking him to resign.
So what is the most chocking thing?
- the "sex" in the toilet
- the beating/fight
- the party asking for resignation
I find this is taking way too much place in the swiss-romand media and there are far more serious problems for citizens that should catch the attention of both media and politicians.
This is a typical "genevoiserie" displaying a real problem (corruption, amateurism, clientelism,...) of genevese politicians.
