Thanks for the reminder, Phil.

I never did buy that property... got pipped to the post by a developer. Who put up a gaggle of ugly concrete box holiday McMansions.

Me, I was eager for the traditional village life. I would have kept it as a working farm - albeit one supported by my husband's day job for the first years. But that wasn't what the Gemeinde/cantonal Whateveramt wanted - no, they wanted the holiday homes, they wanted the community to grow - so the developer got the nod.

As ye sew...
Wow. Kinda surprised he got planning permission for that.

Planning is quite easy in CH, if it's building land then you have to follow basic rules.
You might have noticed that Architechs seem to be creativly challenged in CH & concreate is the building material of choice.

Re: referendum on limiting second homes

Ständerat have just approved some changes to the rules which will make it easier to build second homes, now to the Nationalrat for their approval.
Details here.

The Senate simply reacted to the fact that it was a YES of less than 51%. 51% legally IS a majority but morally a weak stand. The National Council will follow in order to soften what clearly was an over-reaction.

I only regret that the SVP cannot be blamed

Ooooooh!

Dunno!

I'm sure there is some deeply hidden, mysterious meaning in all them square blocks.
Just need to find the correct vantage point for it all to become immediately apparent.

Re: referendum on limiting second homes

Old thread but according to Blick a firm is building "mobile homes" in the mountains to avoid the second home legislation, in German¨http://www.blick.ch/news/schweiz/lux...id4163252.html
