| | | U.S. politician Michele Bachmann becomes Swiss [then withdraws]
Wonder if she has some hidden agenda. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0512/76072.html
Perhaps next step renounce/relinquish US citizenship and move to CH with her minor fortune. But if I recall correctly, her early career was with the IRS, so she should know the system.

Despicable person...At least her husband being Suisse means he still has a path to same sex marriage when he eventually comes out in the future since it's still not legal in Minnesota

The article claims that Michele Bachmann "automatically" acquired Swiss citizenship when her husband did. Surely that would be a decision made by an individual, not forced upon one automatically? | Quote: | | | | | At least her husband being Suisse means he still has a path to same sex marriage when he eventually comes out in the future since it's still not legal in Minnesota | | | | | What a bizarre non-sequitur. Do you have personal knowledge of Marcus Bachmann's sexuality that qualifies you to make that statement?
Anyway, I can't see her going too far in Swiss politics until she learns to spell her first name correctly. | | This user would like to thank 22 yards for this useful post: | |

As she got it through marriage from her husband of swiss descent, I thought facilitated naturalisation would apply, but it appears from the article that she just got it automatically. Can't imagine what her 'close ties to switzerland' are, or did special treatment apply?

She must have already been at it while still being a rep. presidential candidate, no?

They certainly have the right to believe what they want
as crazy as it may sound. As long as it doesn't interfere
with others, then she has this right.

Do they know that Switzerland supports gay rights, abortion rights, some censorship and many women have hairy armpits?
And, to top it off, women are not voted to the Bundesrat because of their MILF aura.
My greatest wish: I hope Switzerland double taxes them.

Hope she learns to appreciate being a citizen of a country with mandatory health insurance, strong environmental protections, liberal drug laws, legal assisted suicide, permit requirements for gun purchases....

I meant to underline "european nation"... Switzerland is not part of the European Union!... So I don't think we can call it "european"-
Hm...
Unless it was more of a geographical reference?

Michelle Bachmann....
Christoph Blocher's successor?

for a very, very long time before the European Union.
