I think it is important to note, that that tweed was, according to what is written in the TA article, was not written by a representative of the party.
He seems to be an ordinary member of SVP. To become a member of a party is very easy in Switzerland. You just have to send them an application and pay the required membership fee. There is no selection process by the party, or anything like that.
Thus him being a member of SVP does only mean that he himself associates himself with this party, not that the SVP had chosen him to represent them.

If he held some office for them or where in charge of some local SVP group, you would be right to criticise SVP for this comment. But in this case it is complete nonsense to blame SVP. It is the same as if somebody in America wanted to blame the Republican party for being racist, because a person who is registered to vote in the Republican primaries dropped a racist comment.

Well first of all I do not agree with you...I am reading SVP member not SVP so nobody is blaming SVP. What reasons do we have to blame SVP in CH?
And I am sure that tomorrow SVP will come out saying that they do not agree with such comments from their members and the guy should be punished by working for the muslim cummunity...

He won't. Racists don't make racist comments in a non racist community. SVP seems to be a safe place to make such a comment. That's the sickening part.
Of course they'll blame it on an individual!! That's a basic in damage management. Double speak is not rocket science to master.

He posted it on the Internet. In other news, people also say stupid things in real life. I get that some people who haven't heard of this Internet thing are shocked that people post all sorts of things, but the guy is some randomn, unknown person, where's the news? What's shocking? That some people are racist? I understand that we love to be shocked, but isn't this getting a bit silly?

My first post in this forum shouldn't be in the politic sector but however...

I know this guy who wrote this tweet and believe me; he's not a Nazi or anti democratic and he wrote this tweet because he was quite angry because there was an crime issue in he's family who caused this high emotional tweet. A court in Basel released a fundamental muslim prayer who said it's ok to strike he's own wife to get sex. So that drove him nuts.

I personally don't share the meaning of this tweet but in that context, there are a few things which are quite strange to me:

This guy isn't convicted by any court so he's not guilty by law (yet).
The media published he's full name on any front-pages despite he isn't convicted.
He just asked a question. (How silly this question would ever be...)
The cops executed a search warrant in he's flat because of only one spoken comparison in a content of a question!!!

I'd like to suggest to wait for the investigation.

It wasn't the media who published his full name, it was himself who published that statement under his own name. He really has only himself to blame.

His statement most certainly is not just a silly question. Do you even know what happened in the "Kristallnacht"? That jewish shops and synagogs all over Germany were set on fire, Jews were beaten up, some even killed. Do you really think, that there is an excuse for publicly suggesting that the same should be done to muslims?

If you don't call somebody who "asks" (imho this is rather a rhetorical question), whether it is necessary to beat up Muslim and destroy their property and religious places a racist, who would you call a racist then?

He just asked a question? I am surprised by the questions he asks...and I do agree that we need to wait for the investigation but it seems that he has a way of dealing with muslim matters. So if it is more than one question it is not some guy who asked a stupid question and the media made a big deal out of it...

Why do we need "the justice" to tell us what to think?

I'm split on this. The guy obviously didn't use his best judgement when tweeting this. However, if he's charged with whatever they throw at him, is that going against freedom of speech?

The man made a public apology. I'd rather see this whole thing forgotten and marked down as a lesson in

"don't tweet stupid things because they'll come back and tweet you in the butt"

This whole topic is tricky. I've read public statements in America that are racist or lies, yet they are allowed because they fall into the shroud of freedom of speech.

Finding a balance between common sense and defamation is a double-edged sword.

Anyway of course he's not a nazi. The nazis destroyed synagogues. He never thought of that (his words not mine)

20 min highlighted some tweets he made coming up to the comment and after it.

Now feel free to correct anything which is inaccurate but from what 20min writes he started by talking about the photographer who takes photos of tons of naked people in places and how Müller was amazed he finds so much people willing to strip. Afterwards he suggests women in Saudi Arabia should protest by having a naked march in Mecca.

He then talked about the guy who was not convicted (a month ago) of giving his opinion about the treatment of women, when asked in a documentry. (He thinks it's ok for them to be beaten if they don't give out)

He then writes we should chuck these people out of the country. I don't want to live with these people.

30 sec. later he says Maybe we need another Kristallnacht....this time against muslims.

5 min later he writes stuff like he won't let his mouth be banned by moralists and he actually would like to put certain people up against a wall and shoot them. Less dirt on the Earth would be a good thing.

Later when challenged he said what I wrote at the start. Don't talk sh.... Repeating the Reichskristallnacht would meaning destroying synagoues. I never considered that.


Now what the justice thinks about this is irrelevant. SVP are constantly having to defend themselves of being racist. Now the question is do the SVP want to be connected to this guy and should a guy advocating these kind of things be on a school board. Quite rightly he's been forced out of the party and he'll be probably be forced of the school board.

He may not be a nazi but he's a massive idiot. Ask me this who's worse the guy saying it's ok to beat one's wife or the guy saying we should maybe attack a whole community and that the Earth would be a better place if he executed certain people?

I am very pro free speech, but this statement was over the top as it asked for violence and destruction, even murder. please see Kristalnacht.

Also what is more is that Kreispresident Urs Fehr condoned this tweet.
