Cardinal Martini has died

The well known reformist Cardinal Martini of Milano has died. His death is regretted not just by Catholics but also by many Protestants who loved to see a modern face on the side of the Roman Catholics.

Re: Cardinal Martini has died

I seriously thought it would be some news about the death of the inventor of Martini, a drink I love, so I got in to mourn his death. What a disappointment.

Sure, and with 85, what can we say. Interesting will be what sort of chap his successor is . Do not forget that Cardinals from Milano generally are prime candidates for the role of Pope. And as Mr Ratzinger is no longer the youngist, this may become relevant within a few years

Here some info about the Martini company

while the drinkS actually are a variety of drinks really

I once heard that Cardinale Martini IS (was) related to the old Martini family of alcoholic fame. Not spectacular if you consider that monks including Jesuits for more than a thousand years kept up and widened the production of wines in the world

not so off the point, actually...
there were people mourning him in front of Milan Cathedral holding up posters saying NO MARTINI NO PARTY

many think that if only he had been made pope instead of Ratzinger... it would have done a great deal of good to the church and the world.
a great christian, a great man, RIP.
