| | | Hello bids farewell
Hello says goodbye Swissinfo | Quote: | | | | The small Swiss charter airline Hello, the latest endeavour of entrepreneur Moritz Suter, has stopped all flights out of Basel and Zurich due to bankruptcy. Suter was also behind the restructured Crossair airline.
Hello’s imperiled financial situation was also exacerbated by bad accounting on the part of an ex-chief financial officer. | | | | | |

In a sign of the cost-cutting in the airline business, Basel-based charter carrier Hello is employing pilots who work for free in order to gain flying experience. TL CH 2nd Oct 2012

| | | Re: Hello bids farewell | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | Sad and regrettable, but the company always depended on a fairly small number of contracts, and among them rather doubtful ones like Iceland Express
And I never understood why Suter did not move over the company from the Basel-sector to the Mulhouse-sector where lower costs would have helped
You could see Hello planes standing around unused at the airport for several days per week, so that questions were asked about the company for many years.

Interesting, another Swiss airline biting the dust. I didn't even know about Hello until reading this thread.

"Hello" is based on Suter's quote ~2004, "Hello, I am still here".

Who allowed his company to become mostly a "contract carrier" flying for other airlines. Hello also had a contract with the BfM for deportation flights and 2012 was supposed to be a record year for such flights. Sonntag |

Just shows what happens when you have small charter airline that isn't being paid for by the national carrier which was the case with Crossair being financially carried by Swissair all through the 1990s until November 2001.
The only people who want to run airlines are those with egos bigger than their wallets and they rarely succeed. Although Suter was great in PR, those that actually knew him saw a different picture.

Suter is still personally involved with two other airlines: Carpatair / Moldavian Airlines
Moritz Suter is shareholder with Moldavian Airlines and Carpatair, the former he is on the board. Source

But Crossair was very profitable when Swissair via BAZL forced Mr Suter to surrender. I know people who for years worked with Mr Suter, and saw another picture as the one you mention. And he, also after his company majority-wise was captured by Swissair, managed his company well for years.
He however should have, after the end of Crossair/Swissair, stopped such endeavours

Admittedly, whenever I've used them they've never been on time, but they are still going after nearly ten years.

> ICeland Express was and is NOT an airline
> Iceland Express never had an AOC (air operator's certificate)
> Iceland Express was NOT and is NOT a travel agency
> Iceland Express was NOT and is NOT a tour operator
it in fact is just a kind of "marketing agency". I some years ago checked things up also with institutions in Iceland like the Travel Agents Association and the Icelandic CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) and all people contacted regarded the company as doubtful and questionable.
And if you say you flew with them, you are in error as you flew on board of airplanes operated by air-carriers flying for them.
It so is not really a surprise that according to Mr Suter TWO of his partners went bankrupt right this year.
Add to this that, as SkyNews publisher Hansjörg Bürgi stated these days, that Hello was operating their flights in the way of a "charter-airline" in the traditional sense, while most original charter airlines long ago transformed their flights into semi-scheduled flights. This means that while particular numbers of seats were chartered out to tour-operators, a share of the seats were sold in the way of any scheduled airline.
Be clear, all I write here is an attempt to analyze the matter. BUT I am absolutely sure that Moritz Suter was not and is not a "hazardeur" and tried his very best. It was in the way of the German saying "Der Mist lief aus dem Ruder".
However, as there is the case of a Financial Chief who gave forged figures to his own management but also to the FCAA, there will be an official FCAA (BAZL) investigation into the matter.

Some add-ons to the topic above including my own remarks. That Finance Chief at Hello refuses the allegations outright and is taking the service of a lawyer. The above mentioned Iceland Express is now taken over by WOW Airlines, another Icelandic travel organisation of the same kind. Which however now with the new size may become a real low-tariff airline with its own AOC.
Moritz Suter has his hands (financially and management-wise) also in Moldavian Airlines in Chisinau
