Reported this morning that Max (Maxine) the stork that the Fribourg Natural History Museum has monitored since her birth has died in Spain at the age of 13 and a half. Due to the work of scavengers it wasn't possible to determine whether she died of old age or from hitting a nearby power line.

Max holds the world record for the length of time to be monitored of any animal and raised 31 offspring during her life.

I never met Max in real life but he (correction: she) was responsible for bringing many babies to my neighbourhood.
