So much for direct democracy, we don't like the democratic decision so we're going to push this through anyway. Could be the EU.

The Aargau legislature has approved the naturalization of Aisha Mohammad inspite of the fact that the community had rejected her application, four times:

the Canton is overruling

The CANTON SOVEREIGNTY indeed IS democratic and higher up than the one of communes. . Communes in Zürich were incorporated into the City of Zürich against their will on the basis of decisions by Canton and Union (Bundesgericht)

Sometimes for justice to be done a bit of over ruling is needed. This was one of those instances.

Is that not just a massive oxymoron? How can the a decision that goes against the views of majority of the people who are closest to the issue be democratic?

And there I was thinking this was about a Swiss citizenship application.

A conceptual post to consider the potential for unwanted results from direct democracy when implemented in a closed environment. I put a picture in for you.

Here's some gruesome images that show the by-product of not being democratic. Neither of which have anything to do with this decision.
Seriously, what the **** is wrong with you? How is the holocaust or modern equivalent remotely comparable to a Pakistani woman whose kids are all Swiss citizens getting fair treatment in a country she has lived in and contributed to for decades?

Re: Aisha Mohammed was refused 4 times swiss citizenship!

So, I wanted to congratulate Aisha for getting her citizenship with deep understanding what she had to go thru because of her status/ethnicity/circumstances and what's nots predicaments of life.

The rest of these last posts showing the pictures irrelevant to the topic can be scrapped

It doesn't make much of a difference and I clarified "or modern equivalent" before you posted. Either way I don't think it was anything other than a cheap shock tactic.

EDIT - Even as a response to the lynching photo it was unnecessary, you don't stoop lower than someone else's level to make a point.

I got the impression from my semi-skim read that Loz was against the overruling of the commune decision and was then making parallels between places with no democracy?

the Swiss Confederation is the Union of the Cantons. And the Sovereignty of the Cantons is the Basis of democracy
