Yeah thats a great vid, putting trams to good use Though it is rather old. I guess 20 minutes must be out of things to report....

I thought it was rather sporting of them to make sure the cars didn t get caught up in the whole thing.

I'm wetting myself laughing here, reminds me of a site with photos of torched speed cameras from the UK.

Heck even the camera man is sniggering...

well that one for the car drivers....

So I head a long while back that xome "vandals" blew up a speed camera. the issue was that as the explosion occured an old man and his dog were walking by and it totally scared them [blank]less. I think it probably did a number on their hearing as well.

has anybody else heard this one? I could not find evidence of it on the web.

It may be a complete coincidence that Lewes is the home to the largest fireworks celebrations in England

But in that case you'd have about 5 km/h too much on your speedometer and you would be under the 3 km/h tolerance of the tin policeman, who in Switzerland is well-mannered and made of "Blech".

And while people in the UK perhaps have less of a say in such matter, I doubt that parking meter vandalism is their last resort?

Just to pull you up on that one Nathu, all car speedos in Europe are set to display a speed of 5 kph more than the car is actually doing. Therefore you are not getting any leeway from the Blechpolizist when they allow you to go at 55 kph before flashing you. Your car is actually only doing 50 kph. If you have an in-car GPS, compare the speed that the device tells you you are going with the speed shown on your speedo. 5 kph difference every time.

Yes I've noticed the variation between the Speedo and the GPS.

It will vary from car to car and on the speed. At 120 my GPS reads 110.

Basically the manufacture has to ensure that it reads high rather than low. This has to take into account variations due to tyre wear etc..

I noticed that too with my TomTom, but never wanted to risk seeing if ît was the speedo or the GPS that was right.

Either way it can be checked by timing a measured kilometer. At 60kph it should take 60 seconds...
