Lowest homicide figure for 30 years in Switzerland

In 2014, only 41 homicides happened in Switzerland. This is a rate of 4.99 per 1 million inhabitants (now: 8.2 million).

This is the lowest figure (not only rate!) since the start of the systematically collected national criminality survey which started in 1982. And this despite constant grow of inhabitants (1982: ~6.5 million).

But also many other rates are steadily lower for two years after an intermediate high in 2012:

- Offenses against Criminal Code in general: -8.5%
- … against Narcotics Act: -16.8%
- Offenses by asylum seekers: -30.9% (!)

- Homicides: -29%
- Thefts (w/o vehicles): -14.3%
- mild attacks against body (‚einfache Körperverletzungen’): - -8.7%
- Robbery: -25.9% (!)
- Threats: -7.5%

BUT, there are also increases:

- Fraud: +2.8%
- Blackmailing: +19.5% (!)
- Forgery (‚Urkundenfälschungen‘): +14.4% … expats, eventually???
- Thefts of vehicles (… including bicycles): +8.4%

Major reasons:

- more professional work by social and governmental institutions and applying respective constitutional measures as precautions (one reason for low homicide rate)
- more professional police work, especially in the case of precautions and intervention regarding „Hausdelikte“ (~offenses at home, more than 50% of homicides happen „at home“ … among people who know each other closely), another reason for low homicide rate
- more professional risk assessments (e.g. psychological assessments)
- more professional sentences
- more intense „Aufklärung“ aka active information campaigns (major reason for lower rate in mild attacks against body)
- usage of precop technology (especially in the case of burglaries)
- „more friendly“ asylum seekers (means: more families from Syria and Eritrea (with many children) vice versa refugees of the Arabic Spring which were accompanied with more, mainly male people with criminal background)
- general better „Wetterlage“ (general societal development independent of Switzerland: decrease in crime in Europe in general for 10 years; such a decrease in criminality started earlier in UK and continental Europe than in Switzerland)

Ever tried to report a crime (even more an ongoing) to the police?
They couldn't care less.

Yup..had it time and time again, it seems making an "Anzeige" is more important for the police then informing them of an ongoing crime.

Probably because of cases like that one:

Fraud also involves all the online-auction fraud, I presume.

Just the other way round. Switzerland finally succeeded in convincing all the foreigners of the superior Swiss civilisational values
