Hollande's visit in Switzerland

French president François Hollande is on an official visite in Switzerland. He went to Zurich, Lausanne and Bern. The focus was around education, green energy, innovation. In a speech, Hollande mentioned several times the "swiss miracle" (low unemployment rate, dynamic economy,...) which is due to a secret and it's not a "bank secret" according to his words. It's the capacity in transforming innovation into companies and jobs.

Quite interesting perspective from the french president, but what he calls a miracle we call it here "hard work".

He is French after all, and in France hard work is a miracle, a real miracle!

Maybe also due to fair taxation and not declaring war on the rich.

Ah ... that's probably the reason for the rolling road block on the autobahn by zurich yesterday

There were at least two rolling roadblocks, but based on news reports of when Hollande arrived in Lausanne we were behind the second one, which was carrying someone else. Not only were there official cars in the motorcade, but a couple of rather obvious "civilian" trailer cars failing to blend in with the rest of traffic.

Oh that's who it was! We encountered them on the way home from Zuruch yesterday and they certainly weren't discrete.
It was really obvious that somebody important was being transported in at least one of the vehicles.

Although he'd have been difficult to see because he refused to sit in his booster seat.

Should have popped into Geneva and cleaned out a couple of bank accounts on the way home..

And Americans are all lousy, obese and loud, Swiss Nazis in disguise, Italians thieves... Stereotypes and sweeping statements! We've seen and heard them all before.
Having seen my maternal grand-father working 24-7 for all his life with hardly ever any holiday to then die from lung cancer induced by other people smoking around him...I do take offence of your comment, and yes, incidentally, he was French and not a one off miracle as you call them.

There were two good reasons why he did NOT Pop into Geneva.

He was NOT to talk to the banks in either Zürich or Geneva as he was on a visit to Switzerland and not to Snobberia

He by visiting Lausanne, Bern and Zürich made it clear that he visited the Swiss Confederation and NOT the République&Canton de Genève. Monsieur le Président may be a rather boring Person, but is a master in tactical steps
