chrism1977 has slipped a little
there is hope

The SVP (65 seats) and FDP (33 seats) plus some tiny right-wing parties in Tessin and Romandie have 1010 seats in the Nationalrat. However, The Stnaderat is likely to stay with a CVP-SP majority after the November elections. Plus the SVP cannot find a consensus compromise candidate to stand for the Bundesrat. Deadlock politics like in the US but better than SVP conbrolling Nationalrat, Standerat and Bundesrat.

I find fanatics hating SVP more dangerous than SVP itself.

Re: there is hope

Agreed, and it is my opinion that nobody can work with the SVP as they are opposed to anything but their own peculiar ideas. I cannot see the SVP ever gaining more that 35% of the vote. The more popular they become, the more frequent does one of their leaders put his foot in his mouth, and seem to be utterly stupid.

Which part of OP's post is hateful? Or do you mean your own post?

I'm more concerned about the 912 seats apparently held by these "tiny right-wing parties". What if they form a coalition? They'd be overwhelming!

Re: there is hope

The FDP basically buffers any SVP idea that would hurt the economy too much, so i really don't see any danger.
Deadlock politics is not something that exists in switzerland either.
