An interesting idea, and also highlights the fact that discrimination at this level is so rampant. There was mention that people write their religion on the CVs - I'm shocked that anybody would think that it was the employer's business what they believed in.

nevermind the employer... they practically ask your religion when you walk through customs...

I am frankly amazed that anyone would ask... and more than a little disturbed that one would actually respond to such a question

hum.... i've never been asked anything by the custom officials when I come in.... they just look at my pass and permit and wave me in...

Probably because your skin was white. Was talking to someone the other day who works for Swissre. They said that some of the guys who work there are black and were detained at the airport. When they said that they worked at Swissre the police/immigration just laughed at them. Someone from the company had to drive out to the airport and show papers to prove that they worked there before they were released.

The really sad part is that I wasn't shocked when I heard that story.. That means I've been here too long :-)

I've also never been hassled at the airport or borders, but I'm also white with an EU passport.

Sorry doctor.s - I was guessing in the post above that you have white skin, but then I saw another post saying you were born in Mexico, and since I don't know your parents I can't guess that one. But I can see from your avatar that you have a nice shiny coat of hair....

hahaha... no problem Mark. I actually look like a latin version of Mister Clean... or as he is called here "Mister Proper" (shiny bald head with clean shaven face) and travel with my Mexican passport and although my parents are from Spain I have not yet bothered to try to get a Spanish passport.

However, having lived in the States for most of my life, I saw how black people and anybody that was not predominantly white were baldly treated. And actually US Immigration officers are the worst. They make Swiss Immigration look like angels.

I think many people are no longer schocked to hear stories like that, especially if they involve black folks. It just has become common knowledge that being black is an automatic ticket to prejudice land.
