Re: Should tap water be free in Swiss restaurants?

I don't drink bottled water on principle. Why should I? The tap water is really good (at least in Zurich). Bottled water comes at too high a price, environmentally speaking, and is totally unnecessary in Switzerland, unless you are a poser.

I usually only order water in a restaurant if I am having wine, anyway, otherwise I don't bother.
That "bottled water" is too expensive is clear. With wine (with a meal), I usually take some Coca Cola. Whatever people say, an excellent combination.

Re: Law about serving tap water in restaurants?

I have a friend that orders water for health reasons, cannot drink sweet drinks, coffee or alcohol, only decaffeinated tea if available.

I think anyone who goes into a bar or restaurant and orders a glass of tap water and nothing else deserves to be charged for it for being a total tightwad.

Would I be right in thinking your friend would not be ordering humble tap water, though?

Agreed, Pellegrino would be the first choice!
