Libya's Gaddafi urges 'holy war' against Switzerland

A rather interesting article in the BBC news this morning.

"Let us wage jihad against Switzerland, Zionism and foreign aggression," he said.
"Any Muslim in any part of the world who works with Switzerland is an apostate, is against Muhammad, God and the Koran."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/8537925.stm

Looks as if the Swiss have solved their problem of Minorets in Switzerland ?

Population of Switzerland should fall by 3.5% ?

There should be a few vacancies for work coming up for all those non muslims seeking work in Switzerland or for Swiss companies?

By the way, Nestle shares have not crashed this morning on the news as yet.

Holy War? No thank you we're fine as is, but you all go ahead and have fun

I woke up this morning to find this as a headline:
Gaddafi urges 'holy war' against Switzerland

Now I know no rational person pays much heed to Gaddafi, and an educated and well informed individual would understand that all this nonsense has arisen from an incident in which the son of a dictator felt that the people working for him had no human rights (this is not a diplomatic incident).

This man is losing it, he appears to have being feigning remorse for the Lockerbie bombings, so much so that we felt that we could release the people involved back into the hands of this guy who:
  1. Calls himself the 'Brotherly Leader and Guide of the Libyan Revolution'
  2. Proclaims to be the Founding Father of a Unified African State
  3. Is a self-contradicting Islamic Socialist-Dictator pan-Arabist ex-president of the African Union
The problem that arises is that the illerate fanatics are going to take his words out of context and act upon his words. There was no need to bring added light to the recent Minaret vote, while I might have my personal opinions regarding the ban, I am more than happy that people here have the right to express their wishes (if you refrained from voting against the ban, then don't complain about it) in an open and somewhat democratic manner.

Mr. Gaddafi, you sir are a weak and cowardly man for using the religious card to justify the unethical actions of your son, and irrational political steps that your goverment has recently taken.

I think Malcolm Tucker expresses best what I think about you
"He's so dense that light bends around him," and is "...about as much use as a marzipan dildo."

Re: Libya's Gaddafi urges 'holy war' against Switzerland

It is absolutely nothing to do with minarets and everything to do with Basel Fasnacht - the timing is just too close to be a coincidence. The number of Gaddafi floats/themes was clearly an insult to the great man's name and such a slur cannot be allowed to go unanswered...

I'm sure one of the leading Waggis at Basel's Fasnacht wasn't in a costume, and was crazy Gaddafi himself.

It was the big fella with the red carpet!
He probably came over to see for himself what was going on, and undoubtedly thought, " My Allah! How can this be? These people are more arrogant than I am! It's time for a Jihad!"

Because all 'the muslims' are automatically given a kebab shop at birth and that is the only role they hold in the Swissh society...
My god if they were to harm the Swiss people... where would I be able to get a Fondue on a weekend?

Blah Blah Blah... The guy is an idiot. His politics are anything but muslim. Before preaching to all the muslims in Switzerland he should start with his own sons. Here is his daughter in law: Aline Skaf... the one that got beaten up in London hotel.

Not very muslim is she? And any good muslim man knows that one of the worst sins is to hit a woman. So for her huband (Gaddafi's son) to hit her and break her nose... A very good example of Islam... Not.
Not to mention the two million dollars he paid Beyonce to perform at his New Year Party when millions of lybians are very poor..

nice display of racism there. Oh yes, sorry, humour.

I do like the whole thing the Colonel's got going on here...."you dare to subject my son to your laws and I'll declare Jihad on you".

I think people are clever enough to see this is a personal crusade. Some might "rise up" but I hardly think they'll make it to Switzerland....there's been no flag burnings to date, I assume?

This "idiot" managed to stay in power in the richest African country for four decades. And I am pretty sure that there were plenty of times were the west would have loved to support any opposition to him...

I find his populistic speeches, tent-camping and the fantasy uniforms a clear sign for some mental problems, but I would not underestimate him.

About the religious stuff: G.W. is claiming to be a religious Christian. I found his actions as a leader pretty far away from my definition of Christianity. Religion, absolutely no matter which one, has been more often used as an excuse for bad politics and aggressions than for good reasons. It is a very effective tool to control masses.

He's an absolute moron - most Muslims are not so obviously they are not going to follow his call... if anything they'll be mad at him for giving their religion a bad name. And I thought Dubya was bad, but this guy is the equivalent of absolute zero in the political world....

I think you missed my point there. To me religion is about the person and not what they wear and which God they pray to. I was just trying to show the contradiction of the whole thing.

I wonder how the western world feels about Gadafi. The man responsible for planes getting bombed, police officers getting shot dead from within it's embassys and who also was very generous towards the IRA is once again calling for terrorist acts

According to the times, he does not call for terrorism at all, more for some kind of embargo if you read the details.

"It was not clear how he wanted Muslims to target Switzerland. “The masses of Muslims must go to all airports in the Islamic world and prevent any Swiss plane landing, to all harbours and prevent any Swiss ships docking,”

....

He criticised al-Qaeda during his address, calling it a “a psychological disease”. He added: “There is a big difference between terrorism and jihad.”
He made clear that Switzerland, “an infidel, obscene state which is destroying mosques”, was at the very least an ideological enemy. "

It's a billion people we're talking about, so "most" isn't very reassuring. It only takes a few.

Is there any precedent for this? Has the leader of a major Muslim country ever made declarations like this? If yes, what was the result?
