the share of foreigners in London or Manchester or Birmingham for sure IS higher, but if you look at the United Kingdom in general you realize that it nationwide is much lower. Look at cities like Exeter, Plymouth, Weymouth, Bath, Bristol, Newcastle, Brighton etc, and you see a fairly low share of foreigners

I don't know about the Bahamas, but in case of Luxembourg, it is known. You can add some 5 or 7 % to the numbers for Switzerland and then you have it.

In case of the Channel Islands it is different. Most Brits you meet there are holidaysmakers and not permanent residents. The heavy presence of old-age Brits residing on the Channel Islands may bring about %-points comparable with Switzerland and Luxembourg.

Of course it is. In Opfikon-Glattbrugg, the foreigners make up 42% of the population. And that figure does NOT include all former foreigners who got Swiss citizenship.

It also depends on your definition of foreigner. A third generation Swiss born person with a Spanish passport is still called a foreigner.

And Australia, New Zealand, US, all these "new" nations (like, haven't had the same family in the same village since 1291) should really have more "foreigners" if you count anyone not pedigree of an indigenous people group.

(By this definition, I am a foreigner in every country!)

Switzerland and most other continental European countries in fact have no statistics about who was born where as this is completely irrelevant.

According to your graphics, 24% of the population or 100% of the foreigners are currently located on the Swiss-Austrian border. Maybe they're banging on Liechtenstein's front door but don't have enough money to be let in...?

Sorry but what graphics are you referring to ? The border area towards Austria is not densely populated by Swiss standards first of all. Foreign populations are centred in the areas of Zurich, Basel and Geneva.

Liechtenstein does not offer so many jobs really, as most of the companies "based" there are having their real offices elsewhere.

In Canada, foreign-born doesn't mean you're considered a foreigner. Although we know it's quite the opposite in CH.

Also in CH, there are many expats who are temporary denizens. Whereas in Canada, most foreigners are landed-immigrants who plan to stay.

Further, many foreigners in CH are from Germany and other neighbour countries.

So these stats need to be taken with a lot of consideration of how you interpret them.

In Canada it's only the native Indians who are not foreigners. Likewise when the quota of non-Swiss reaches around 80% here, we will declare ourselves 'not foreign' and at the same time consign the Swiss to reservations and let them sell us beads and have photos taken with us...
