From my end, I can tell you everybody in Hungary knows this. Where I used to live in Budapest - newly built, not really cheap housing with doormen and garden and everything - all these girls were standing outside the road literally in lingerie even daytime. The police does not do anything and it is an open fact the mafia and the gangs work hand in hand with them. I don't need to have a "mate" to see and know what's going on. It is not even taboo any more.
Strange thing is you can still live in such a neighbourhood and not be bothered or unsafe. They mind their own business and you mind yours. But no way you want to stare at them or get involved in any way. That's how it goes.

Which district (kerulet) of Budapest have you lived? My fiancée is Hungarian. I also lived there many years ago, this is actually how we met. Anyway, you must have lived in the wrong place AND have a tumultuous night life. It's not so bad as you describe it.
I made great friend over there, female friends. Stop bashing East Europe because you think you're above.

I lived almost everywhere in Budapest, but it is specifically the IXth, the XIIth and the XVIIth districts I am talking about.

Has your fiancéé lived in Budapest since she was a child, at high school, at the university, moving from neighbourhood to neighbourhood? Or is she the one raised at Rozsadomb only ever going to the local mall with mom with their little Fiat Punto? I know enough people of that sort.

Besides, there are no "wrong" places in Budapest, it is a plain gigantic city of 2 million people. Spending 2 years living in on Andrassy ut, going to the Irish pub at Kalvin ter and meeting the office coworkers of your fiancée won't give you the experience that there is anything bad going on. But there is a lot going on at places where you may have never spent any time at all.

For some reason, I have been telling you about specific examples, districts, my history, my life in Hungary, whereas you keep being secretive about where you come from and what your experience with Hungary is.

I've been there for a year at CEU and then for a short term work contract, funny you mentioned Kalvin ter, me and my fiancee were working close to that, I lived in the I district and then moved to XIII for a litttle while. Met young and nice crowd, international too, kept in touch with some (glad I did so). Excuse me for having a good time there (all in all) and not seeing all those aspects you mentioned. While there were negative aspects of course, I wouldn't have thought the situation was that bleak as you like to describe it (maybe you exaggerate?). But what do I know, I was a good kid and had other interests.

I am not saying the people are not nice or any of that sort, I am not sure why you keep misreading what I posted. This thread is about prostitution which is a strong industry in Hungary. If you don't know about it because you have not seen it while you were there, you don't need to come here and tell everyone what a decent kid you are.


Despite of all your implications - "I am a good kid", "you lived a rough life" without any knowlege of me - I have never had anything to do with prostitution, I am a qualified computer engineer. I just know a lot of lot of people back at home and saw a lot of things in my life. It does not mean I indulged in peep shows or spent my nights on the street or whatever your idea is?!

You may want to revise besides "how good" kid you are after seeing 3 sentences from me and replying in a tone that I personally would not permit myself even with someone I know - not to mention a stranger.
