I liked the facts and figures section:

- 14'000 prositutes in Switzerland
- 3.5 billions CHF revenu generated from prostitution
- 350'000 men in age between 20-65 use at least once a year the service of a prostitute, equating to 20% of men in this age category.
- 50% of customers are swiss men
- 50% of customers are married
- average age of customers is 33

interesting figures given that it's an underground activity. I always assumed the age and percentage of married men to be higher.

Since moving here I used to think it was undergorund activity too..
However, pass through any village, you can´t miss red neon lights shaped like hearts, subtle neon lamps - red ofcourse, even more subtle signs "swiss girls" or "heavenly massage"..

Some streets at night become a lair of high boots and latex, with cars passing by and mouths and eyes wide open from within catching a glimpse more often than stopping altogether.

Not really underground in my opinion. It´s out there everywhere.

I think it's because some singles buy into the myth that sex stops when you get married.

So paid-sex requires a good revenue more likely to be found in the older segment. I thought that married men go for paid-sex because it's the best alternative to a mistress which may interfere with established family life. I don't see the reason why an unmarried man would go to prostitutes.
