Looking at the map of the settlements around the Alps in prehistoric times, it is clear how important the lakes were to people then. It is interesting how different areas seem to have been more important in those times than today. e.g. the Northern end of Lake Constance and around Lake Neuchatel & Bielersee appear to have been quite heavily populated. Zug also appears to have been an important area

According to that article, the door is from the same time period that Stonehenge was built. If one of the workers at Stonehenge got a bit of wanderlust in him, I wonder if that door could have been the home for the first British ex-patriate in Switzerland?
