You can stay long enough to get citizenship and vote against them every chance you get.
But, I prefer the mocking idea, the tie is a little too subtle, maybe take some inflatable sheep along to public events and try to be caught on camera just being friendly and laughing with 75% of the population at the 25% that seem to these posters are cool

And it would be rather odd to think that an EF poster could come up with something like that.

Everything else leads to missunderstandings and it's not helpful in a discussion.

the point about not welcoming criminal inmigrants into Switzerland is valid.
No nation would like to award nationality to criminals, that is why there is a criminal record check, not only for naturalisation but also even for C and B permits.
The problem is that SVP ( UDC pour le romands ) is manipulating this into xenophobic campaigns.
No person is perfect or free to fall into temptation, a lapse of desequilibrium etc. we could all find ourselves one day breaking a law. And obviously we deserve to be punished for it.
But the point is here, once you have settled as a permanent resident or were born here, there is no point in using your fall to kick you out of the country that is what they want to do.
Under the same logic, you could also deprive of the swiss nationality to any swiss that is found to be a paedophile or rapist and kick him out of the country isn't it ?

I'd be surprised if someone (especially an expat in Switzerland) didn't know the famous Third Man quote though . . .

I hope I'm not being pedantic, but the spelling, grammar, punctuation, and spacing is atrocious; much worse than normal. You been on the Labatt Fitty again? Or hanging out with the Separatists too much?

The fact that it's a quote from the Third Man (and was inf fact written by Orson Welles, and is only part of the published script as a footnote) doesn't change that.
In fact it's one of those quotes that regularly surfaces and regularly gets debunked. Welles mucked it up.

The debunking has a sad result: Much warfare and bloodshed, but not even a cuckoo clock to show for it. |

Def sounds like a good to question to ask at the citizenship interview: where were cuckoo clocks first produced?
Ironically, it's only from expats here in CH that I've heard that it is, incorrectly, from CH. Historically though, cuckoo clocks from CH were a big deal in the late 19th century; all the rage as they would say. So one can see where the mis-fact may have developed.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love they had five hundred years of democracy and peace and what did that produce, the cuckoo clock...
I think the SVP are just appealing to and fuelling people's fears of the change that can be brought about by foreigners and immigrants. I don't mean that in a negative sense, or even a positive one as it is always objective. These people propogating pernicious ausländer propaganda our just afraid of losing a culture that according to Orson Welles amounted to nothing more than an annoying bird/clock partnership. | | | | | Correction;700+ years, cuckoo clocks are from "Schwarz Wald ""Black Forest" But you are a Fussball Fan ,I have to forgive you for this .Gute besserung

As someone mentioned in another thread, how would you like it if you arrive in Thailand for a holiday and then you see posters everywhere stating "Hans Peter is a Paedophile, say No to sex tourism" ? You would feel unwelcome, you'd get a bit concerned about your security, etc., wouldn't you? Saying no to sex tourism is all good, but the first part of the sentence is kinda wrong, no? | | | | | Not at all, I am not a paedopille, therefor it doe`s not apply to me

[Impotent outrage at xenophobic propaganda] | Quote: | | | | | She asked about the fact where Swiss compared foreigners to rats, not about which nationality or group was it. True, incorrect info there and Roma people aren't the same as Romanian but it's irrelevant in this case (and anyway it's not my mistake but that website's) as I was just trying to show that the fact she asked about exists.
On the side note I read Ms Shoggi's post and replied without reading the rest, so this is why I did not notice your explanation | | | | | Yes, it was a little talk before your post.
And you're wright, it doesn't matter who was picked on... But incidentally the almighty statistics some people love to bring on into disscusions to justify their hate were not even supporting their "point"! In fact they were far far away from it..Big surprise for Ms Shoggi I guess. | | This user would like to thank greenmount for this useful post: | |
