Re: US Market: A legal Minefield for Swiss Companies
oye vey, yes indeed some regulations that the US enforces are good, others are real debilitating to the conduct of business. Companies in the US spend an enormous amount of money just for compliance and legal activities which ultimately hits the bottom line. And where do those costs get passed on to? your pocket!
I currently work for a company that is doing its best to stay out of the US (it licenses out it's products) which going forward i think is the best route. There is just too much risk so let others take it. I don't think there is really a need to be in the US...really...I think EGMs are the way.
George Washington gave the advice to avoid entangling relationships with foreign countries, perhaps European/CH can learn from his advice?

Re: US Market: A legal Minefield for Swiss Companies
Ok. So they paid high fines and huge legal costs. Nothing new. The question is: Is it worth it?
So: How high are their US revenues? Margins?
In short: if a company cannot earn money on a market, it is typically not entering it. If the market turns out to be not profitable, he company can leave it...
I personally disagree to call the US-style legal battles "consumer rights", but that might be my EU bias... consumer rights is when I get something by law even if I cannot afford a lawyer.
