Can the price be changed for the valid booking?

Hello,

I have a booking with Emirates for a certain booking class. The booking was done in the Emirates office in Zurich and this woman told me the price 530 € and 768 CHF. Only afterwards i realised actually 768 CHF is more than 530 € and the clerk said it is not possible to pay it in euros (as in the website, because i am flying from Germany). On the phone Emirates told me the price changes all the time and nothing is guaranteed until the ticket is issued. Today when the clerk from the office called and said i need to purchase the ticket, i asked what the price will be. She said "the same what i told you". I received only the flight details on the paper, unfortunately it didnt come to my mind to ask to have the price also on black and white (lesson learnt!). The office was closed at 17 and will be closed during the weekend, but i called there just before 17 and asked another woman if i my booking can be hold until Monday 17:00. She said it is ok. My question goes: Does anyone know if they can raise the price until the next level (+200 €) during the weekend? I only know that my booking is valid for this certain booking class...

I meant to have a free stopover and this was fine when i booked it in the office (no extra charge) but cannot book it online, where otherwise is the cheapest price. I can even see my booking online but cannot pay it there.

Thanks a lot, if you know the answer and can help

Yes. The price can change at any time until it is paid for.

What she said. Unless you have a receipt of a confirmation of the price in writing it can be raised.

Have you already paid for the ticket? They have to give you the price quoted within the reservation time period. Most airlines are 24 calendar hours, not business hours/days. If Emirates can't help you until Monday, I'd try calling or going to see a travel agent tomorrow to see if they can pull up your reservation and check on any notes that Emirates may have put in. They may be able to help figure out the fare issue as well.

Emirates Conditions of Carriage states in 4.1 "The fare for your Ticket has been calculated according to our Tariff as it applied on the date
payment was made for your Ticket.
"

So, payment date is the key.

They also say in 4.2.2 "Taxes, fees and charges imposed on air travel are outside our control and are constantly
changing and can be imposed or changed after the date your Ticket has been purchased. If a
tax, fee or charge is imposed or increased after your Ticket has been purchased, you must pay
to us any such tax, fee or charge, or any such increase before carriage."

Which basically means that they can come back and ask you for more money if fuel costs increase for instance (aka Fuel Surcharge).

Payment is always the key. I love the small print in agreements. Good thing you read it over. It is highly unlikely they will charge you extra for taxes or fuel unless there has been a huge hike due to a shortage of availability.
Have you checked with any other airlines or tried using a service like Vayama or Kayak? They have their own hidden fees as well but usually if you decide to change or cancel your flight.

Re: Can the price be changed for the valid booking?

Hello,

Thanks a lot for the help! Strange that i did not get any e-mails from your replies to my thread, usually i do.

Although the clerk in the office said the price will be the same, but i didnt have it on paper and when they said on the phone there is no guarantee, i did not want to risk it (i had already connecting flights paid) and in the end bought a ticket online 2 am. last night. They had the cheapest price there, but no option for an overnight stopover, which i wanted.

Yes, Emirates are open only Mon-Fri 9-17, i was surprised about it also. I did not think about a travel agency, that was a good hint also.

Re: Can the price be changed for the valid booking?

Of course you could also have tried talking to an Emirates office in a time zone where they would have been open. Don't they have a 24-hour line in Dubai?
It would have cost more (telephone charges), but it might have got you what you wanted.

Airlines operate 24/7 around the world as I found out this week when Cathay Pacific called me at home at 1am to tell me a flight I was taking had been moved forward an hour! The agent was fairly contrite when I pointed out that I was in Switzerland and what time it was, but it was morning in Hong Kong and she had her call list to get through....

You could also try going to the airport - EK has a ticketing counter there.
Their number is Zurich is 044809288.

Re: Can the price be changed for the valid booking?

Thanks but too late now, i bought the ticket last night and nothing can be changed anymore. It is just a shame they told different info about the stopovers in the office and on the phone. I got excited about staying for a night or two in Dubai, but i have also now a daytime stopover in Dubai (not the optimal time 05:10 - 16:30, but never mind).

I know that number, that is their reservation number open Mon-Fri 9-17. Thats what it said last night, when i tried to call. But when i called there now, it was open. I must have been so tired that i did not realise there would be a ticket sales open at the airport It is open every day from morning until late. So all my fault...

I booked a flight from Frankfurt to Oman with a 6nt stopover in Dubai over the net (it even included a complimentary train ticket from Basel to FRA). The prices were as expected i.e. a standard return to the furthest point. You need to select the multiple destination radio button and methodically enter your destinations and dates. The live booking people don't have any extra powers to arrange your flights.

That is what i did, tried all the options with multiple destination (showed the price always just in the end). On the phone then they said it is not possible to have a more than 12 hr stopover for this price, but in the office she had already done it for me. Strange.
