| | | Parking in Geneva
Can anyone give me any advice about parking in Geneva. I'm arriving next Friday and will be living close to the intersection of Rue de Lausanne / Avenue de France. Any tips for parking in the vicinity or a website or company that speaks English and that can help me would be hugely appreciated!

bostonivy... your apartment doesnt come with parking then?..
there is some onstreet parking along the side streets there but its really hit or miss... other than that you might be able to rent a montly spot at the "park and ride" lot known as "secheron".. I'll try to look up the website of that for you.
btw.. you from Boston, USA?.. ( as I am, or should say once was )

Thanks! Apparently it comes with parking but there are no spaces available to rent. I'm South African, not from Boston.

I knew of course the idea was to keep cars from the city, but I didnt realize there were restrictions to keep locals from using it .. but of course there are.. this IS Switzerland... thanks Mk

Off topic, but Geneva must have the most civilised car parks anywhere in the world. The Mont Blanc car park in the centre is the tops..

Let me know how you worked it out.

Bostonivy - had you introduced yourself, people might not have falsely accused you of coming from, erm, Boston |

Lyndi | | | | | Damn! the problem seems to be worse than I thought.
Whats more, the Park+Ride Secheron sits next to my apartment and taunts me (Not allowed to park at night and on weekends)
I see a lot of people parking on the sidewalk at night. I guess I will have to do that for a while. During the day I will be driving the car to the office.
Hope you found a better mode of transport.

Mont Blanc is convenient but the access width getting in and out is awful as it narrows down on approach to the ticket machines.

I find the approaches are not bad and the spaces are wider. I can't imagine how people with LanRovers ever get there. It was tight even in my 130i.

Be careful if you park under the train station.
The 1st level has progressive rate, it'll get expensive if you stay long. Go the lower levels where they have standard rates.

Yeah, 2nd or third floor. Despite being under the train station which is a bit ole-ole, it looks pretty safe down there.

You are absolutely right!! If you have a Landrover Discovery there is not ONE carpark that you can get into height wise as I found out last year. If I rememeber 2.0 metres was tops and I was 1.985 I am posting this as a useful bit of info as I had to go out of the centre and find a park and get the bus in, and was over one hour late for an appointment ( I do not want any clever replies i.e You shouldn't have a 4x4 as this thread is about parking in Geneva )
