| | | What Hybrid Cars are Available in CH?
I was thinking to buy a new car maybe in the next year or two, and would really like to get a hybrid car (I like the concept and energy efficiency), but as far as I know the selection is (for some reason) pretty limited, or at least I don't see alot of car manufacturers advertising them.
Does anyone know what hybrid cars are available in CH? I know the Toyota Prius is probably the most popular/affordable right now, but I'm not too keen on it (and now after watching "The Other Guys" last week, I just can't buy a Prius ). I know Lexus makes a hybrid SUV, but at something like 90k CHF that's out of my league (I'm an engineer, not a banker ) I'm looking more in the 30-40k CHF range.
Can anyone reccomend anything? Or has anyone heard of any new hybrid cars planned to be released int he next few years?

I guess those elektro bicycles are techinally hybrids... Electrical engine / human engine.
Do they also have sort of a KERS system to store energy?
But, same question as BB2, why do you want a hybrid?
..and to add to the list
Lexus
Toyota

To change topic slightly, does anyone know if Ford Switzerland sells Mustangs? I saw one last week in a Coop parking lot and was digging it. But I don't see it on the ford.ch website anywhere http://www.de.ford.ch/Personenwagen
...not hybrid nor very "eco", but it's badass-ness more than makes up for it |

: | | | | | Not strictly true now a lot of normal cars have regenerative breaking.
For my 2 Rappen: Hybrids really are a waste of space, they have to mine the nickel for the extremely hazardous batteries, fly all the parts all over the globe for assembly and no one has really thought about how to scrap and recycle them in a efficient manner. Just my view but it seems to be a "jump onto the green bandwagon" for a lot of these manufacturers. As said above some of the new diesels are so super efficient compared to the hybrids, also I believe that the hybrids will be worthless as soon as the mass marketed H Fuel cell vehicles appear at the end of the year.
Now the Tesla, that's a different matter 'specially as they have the gearbox working properly now |

The market will have changed drastically in a year or two, when you are ready to buy. Who knows what will be available then?

If you can't decide between a Prius and a Mustang, you are ready for the BMW X Dybrid. It brings the best of both.

...they're going back to the '69 style-type, nice. But 50k CHF for a Camaro? That's kinda steep, no? They're badass, I've had them before, but they aren't really that well made, you need to be pretty good with a wrench...

Hybrids - hmm lets start, heavy metals for all the batteries.. how on earth do you dispose of all those - ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh but good for the environment now. Crash a hybrid and beavers die simples
If you are in the least bit concerned about the environment and want an eco car buy an electric one, or a diesel or ffs a big petrol v12 it'll be recycled at the end. Although lets not talk about particulates.
Why do you want a hybrid? A car gets you from a to b, the car should last 10, 20 30 years (depending on the engine) if the car is involved in an accident and as far as insurance are concerned it's a write off - do they care about what is in the car?
No, it's too expensive to repair so buy a new one.........

I think hybrids are a 'fashion' now but are destined to die out soon. As mentioned before, modern diesels (with dpf) are very low on CO2 and don't pollute much (when we also take the poluting battery production into account).
For some reason I really like this new fully electric renault though, have the feeling it could become a cult object: http://www.renault-ze.com/de-ch/gamm...lung-3090.html |

There is only one type of car that should be allowed on the road! Petrol / Gasoline fueled cars! Any other type is just a compromise! |

At lease its different from the standard VWgolf-shaped box that all cars share nowadays

I have always told my clients to just get a regular gas engine. I think they waste time and energy on Civics, Prius and the like. To increase gas mileage on all these small cars is a little ridiculous. Why not put the energy into the larger guzzlers. I also don't think the cost difference is worth it.
