MFK question

Hi just a quick question to ease my troubled mind.

I wish to buy a car first registered in November 2011, it has an MFK done in January 2011, MFK was done and car is registered in Zürich.

I also live in Zürich will register it here.

Question is due to the age of the car will it require a new MFK or not

thanks

Re: MFK question

No you don't need, the MFK is available 4 years, it means until november 2015

Re: MFK question

November 2011 has not yet occured, when was the car first registered? MFK of January 2011 is fine regardless of the age of the car.

As the MFK is less than a year old, no.

Cars over 10 years old may be called for a new test after 2 years, or when the owner changes more than a year after the last one.

I bought a 12 year old motorbike with an 11 month & 30 day old test, I was told I could register at any time during the current month without issue in ZH.

Re: MFK question

Another MFK question.

Do they check the type of horn you have on the vehicle? I have rather dull horn and just found out that many people are using specific after market horns (made in the USA) which is better and more pleasant for the ear. It's street legal and all of that.

I was wondering if they will check the horn and ask for a certificate or something like that or they will just check if it works or not?

No don't do it!!

Especially not after market air horns... blow one of those bad boys near a cop and he'll ask you over for a chat!

Thanks, I was fearing this.

Just to be clear, here is what I would like to achieve:

So it will sound just like any other OEM horn but different for this vehicle. Won't be higher tone or anything illegal, but just different.

Having read the MFK tests and strict control for after market parts probably I will just leave this as it is and won't buy the FIAMMs horns...
