Im hearing that the parliament are debating increasing the chf40 charge. amybody else hear this?

I heard they were debating it, but there was also an alternative proposition to keep the 40.- as is, but to increase the fine for not displaying one by some inordinate amount.

It is quite cheap, and is really just a loss leader to get your speeding fine money once you are on the motorway...

The biggest benefit of the Vignette is to get foreigners to pay for using the motorway when crossing Switzerland - primarily looking in the direction of Germany and Holland.

I don't see anything wrong with cranking it up to 100chf - as long as the money is ringfenced to maintain the roads.

if it goes higher to say 00chf then more people will start to avoid paying it, they will just scoot thru on a non motorway border and run the risk of a fine
