hello!

I would like to ask for how long i am entitled to keep my greek driving permit in Lausanne,since I have a car brought from Greece here and my driving permit was issued in Greece too.Does anybody know if i can keep it with the greek plates for one year,as I have heard so far?

I am new to Switzerland and drove here with a Greek registered car as well. No one has been helpful on this subject and I have been told 3, 6 and or 12 months from various people. I drove over to Germany today and on my way back i was stopped by customs. They informed me that I should have declared my car upon entry. Long story short, they logged my car into the customs computer and gave me a form that cost me 25 francs with an expiration of 2 years from the day i brought my car in. The customs agent told me that I had to 1. take my car out before the end of 2 years, 2. Get it registered in Switzerland or 3. go back to the customs office and ask for a 1 year extension stamp before this form expires in November 2013.

I was told I have to keep the custom form in the car with my "green card" in case i get pulled over. Also... she said I have one year to transfer my drivers license over to a swiss one. Funny thing is that I forgot my drivers license at home and just handed them my Taftotita, not being able to read greek, they accepted it with a smile. ha.

Are you a student? Because if you are not then the 2 years automatically becomes 1 from the date that you declared the car. And you should declare the car as soon as you arrive to switzerland. Because if they stop you (customs, casual check on the morotway) then you will have more problems than solutions. And if you have an accident then even more problem than solutions

The driving licence you need to change it 1 year from the date that your resident permit has been issued
