Trusted mechanic in Vaud

Hi all, can anyone recommend a trusted mechanic in the Vaud area that speaks English. Preferably someone independant as opposed to a garage, who will not charge me a fortune (for a VW Golf). An engine light has come on and I am clueless, perhaps just means engine needs oil but I've only been here for 2 weeks and my french isn't great.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
