Daily license plates (Tagesschilder)

Hi folks

I searched, but the terms in the title of the thread don't come up with a lot of hits, let alone solid information.

A colleague of mine has two cars and one license plate. Tomorrow, his wife is going to drive to work, but we'd like to use his other car to go skiing. I've done some research on the Zug Strassenverkehrsamt site (since we live in Zug) and it appears that you can get daily license plates (Tagesschilder) for a car.

However: the text around the site seems to indicate that the purpose is getting the car around prior to registration. Another post here on EF indicates that you can use Tagesschilder with a car that is already sharing license plates, but is a little light on details. Some non-official links indicate about 100 CHF with a maximum of 4 days.

Can anyone tell me if this is allowed, and if anything special needs to be done? Naturally, we can ask the StvA, but the current "plan" is to pop in when they open at 7:30 tomorrow, grab the plates, and hit the slopes. If someone can tell me conclusively that it isn't legit, then we'll probably just take the train or rent a car instead.

Thanks!

Re: Daily license plates (Tagesschilder)

provided the vehicle was last mfk'd les than a year ago or it's less than ten years old all you need to do is take the ORIGINAL fzg ausweis in to the office and they will give you
tagesnummern for it without any questions.

you do not need to produce a drivers license, even if you don't have one a passport is enough.

this is fact and not a clerical error.
