I am about to move to Geneva from London with my family and would like to bring my Vespa LX 50. As the LX50 is very low (30mph) I had it de-restricted so it now goes 40 mph. So my question is.....when I import it to Geneva I think I have to get it checked out mechanically to get it registered.....does anyone know if the fact it is de-restricted will make it fail the test?? also it will cost me 660 pounds to ship it over. it is only worth 1600 pounds I would say. am i actually better of just buying another one in Geneva?? thank you very much in advance for any advice.....
I imported my bike from UK to Zürich earlier this year and had to get through the MFK - front light was an issue as it needs to be European specific. Also had a small change to my rear shock and the MFK were not happy with that! Letter of approval required for the modification
I can't speak about Geneva and what it would like to get it registered there. Can't comment on the de-restricted engine but if it's something they can spot on the test it will probably be questioned.
Maybe someone has imported a Vespa might be able to offer some more advice.
