Can I have same size front & rear registration plates in Zurich
Dear All
I recently imported my UK car and got the new registration plates.
But the issue is that in CH, the front plate is smaller than the rear one. Whereas in the UK, it is same size.
My front bumper has the holder for large plate and when I fix the small plate, it looks very awkward.
So my question is:
Can I get (from ebay or so) my front plate the same size as my rear one with the Zurich registration number and fix it to my front bumper? Or is there a problem with that?
Re: Can I have same size front & rear registration plates in Zurich
In Aargau, they asked me which size I wanted for the front when I got the plates. Got the small one (despite the bumper having place for the big one)...all my non-swiss friends like it and want one
Thanks for your views but the bumper has holes now because of old large holder.
The garage says he can change the bumper or can close the holes and then paint to hide the holes May cost thousands.
Just put a couple of short carriage bolts in the holes. Aesthetically not the perfect solution (though not ugly either) but for only a couple of francs it's surely the most economical one.
Personally I really like those small front plates. It's not like those barn door sized plates other countries insist one straps to the front of their vehicles which do absolutely nothing for the aerodynamics.

Swiss car plates are not traded on eBay or anywhere else. They are issued by the street traffic office of your Canton and are personal to you. They can be handed back if no longer required, but certainly not sold!
