Zone extension, ticket between Zurich and Zurich airport?

I'm going to the airport on Friday and I was wondering how can I buy a local network ticket. The one that costs 2.60Fr i.e. for the use within a local municipality, I take it as within a zone.

I hold a monthly pass for zones 10 and 11. My journey would start in zone 10. I just need ticket for zone 21

Buying a zone upgrade would cost 4.10Fr which I want to avoid.

Anyone knows about this?

Re: ticket to the ariport

wouldn't you just need a ticket from Oerlikon to Flughafen? (IF you are using the IR)

Re: ticket to the ariport

You just need to go to a ticket office, show them your monthly pass and ask for a ticket for the remaining part of your journey.

Nope. That would include Zone 10 and 21. (3 zones since 10 is as big as 2 zones)

Really? I always put a 1-2 zone extension, as 10 is already on my ticket, and OPs.
Honestly, it's not a lot of cash either way. Less than a beer.

Re: Zone extension, ticket between Zurich and Zurich airport?

Is buying a zone upgrade the only option? What's the local network fare for then?

1-2 Zones, around CHF 2.60 for 1 hour with halftax
(press *002 and then the (1/2) button if you have a halftax)

Thats what you need to do.
Oerlikon is zone 10. Flughafen is 21.
And there is no way of getting a zone extension for only 1 zone. So 2 is minimum.

Just traveling around one small area. For example, in Zurich, it's about a 5 bus/tram stop radius from where the ticket was purchased.

That's about US$1.50 or C$1.40. You can get a hot dog plus tax in North America.

Since it's not a big sum, would you be willing to subsidise 1.50Fr?

Wow does a hot dog plus tax double up as a valid ticket on the Metro in the Big Apple :

certainly in London the journey you are talking about would cost 3-4 $ and the ticket inspectors do not accept fast food as valid for the journey

If we are going to give examples of how expensive CH is I think public transport ( except Taxis ) is not the area you should be concerned about ...

You know what? Go to the Kiosk at Bellevue tomorrow between 11AM and 7PM and ask for the boss. If you can proove that you are you, you will get the Fr. 1.50...
You dare?

I was feeling generous this evening and had a purse full of small change, so I found the post I quoted above, hit 'Post Reply', then put the coins into the little slot on my computer just underneath the CD slit and hit 'Submit Reply'. I hope the money arrived safely.

Nope, but it sure keeps your stomach full.

The point here is that we shouldn't diss the value of 1.50 Fr. This meagre sum can feed a homeless person in Canada a hotdog or a cup of coffee. It doesn't matter if you're rich if you don't know the value of money.

Travelling within zones 1 and 2 during the weekend only costs 7 pounds which is like 10 Fr. Not forgetting that London i.e. zones 1 and 2 is much bigger than Zurich, it's actually cheaper to travel in London. 10 Fr in zurich is only for the city, the size of a borough in Greater London.

4.10 Fr to travel from Oerlikon to the airport, a distance of roughly 5km is expensive. When you return and it's another 4.10. So 8.20 for literally nothing-you're not even home.
