| | | Discounts available on new Dacia cars?
The best I have been able to get offered is a set of winter wheels, which is a generally available deal I understand.
Have others managed to get a lot off?
As they are only 10KCHF new, I guess the 20% I was expecting off a new car in a recession was a bit optimistic.

I don't think their margins are huge - so I'd work on getting a few extras thrown in - upgraded warranty, winter wheels, towbar (if you need it).
For the money they are fantastic cars.

Maybe I will work on the warranty then. (The wheels are a given Switzerland wide, at least until 31.01.) If anyone else has had anything thrown in, please let us know.
The Base model Sandero is 8900chf with 3 years warranty. But it has no servo steering, and no electric window option. 10,300chf gets Power steering, and the ability to add options, like electric front windows, & central locking.
Trying to work on the cheap, I was thinking of getting a Central locking alarm system, decent sterio, reverse parking sensors (not an option incidently) and DIY fitting. But marketing have been clever, and changed the interior colour on the base model, so it is not possible to get matching door cards without window holes if I DIY the windows off a breaker. So the base model would always look cheapo. Hmm.

Hi,
can you suggest any dealers in Zug or Zürich?
Was thinking about 2nd hand car but this could be a better option...
Thanks.

My thoughts exactly. Larger gaps between control tests, 3 yr warranty, reliable Renault engine, no complex electronics, etc. Surprisingly nice to drive too.
I went to the one in Shilbrugg, Wild., Got a test drive sorted within 10 mins.
Perhaps we could get another 3rd person interested. Individually test drive, then group purchase together from the Zurich/Zug garage that gives us a nice discount?

Hi,
thanks for that. I don't want to commit myself, but please keep me posted. Sihlbrugg is on my way home so would be convenient for me to arrange a test drive etc...

@bb2, Was your car a Renault 5 Turbo running at double boost by any chance?
These Dacia's seem to top owner satisfaction polls in Germany, along with Audi.
2 big services on an Audi, BMW or Merc with tyres brakes will cost more than this car new, which has two sets of wheels & tyres.

I wish, Clio 172 and Spider, renault dealers are terrible, and I hear they treat dacia customers ever worse.

Still think the cars are great value if you:
1) If you can deal with the basics
2) If you don't want anything special/fun/sporty
3) If you don't expect quality customer service
You get what you pay for.
I still reckon they are bargains!

I had a Megane 2 before, 1.4 16v K4M engine...nothing to worry about, the 4 cylinder engines from Renault with 16 valves are reliable enough. (no matter if 1.4 or 1.6). The electronics are sh*t as there were many issues with the injectors but it all depends on the producer (seems that Delphi is better than Sagem). However, it's cheap to replace.
Don't worry about service, if you keep it for 3-4 years, everything should be fine. At least for 80k-100k km no issues. Use only Elf oil - I guess the guys in garage should know that. I had it serviced in France. Major service (replacing dist. belt, etc) was around 1000CHF.
I'm a member of Dacia-Renault club and I'm very familiar with all the important faults...Nothing major or super expensive to worry about. I heard about bigger issues on more expensive brands therefore the overall satisfaction level in Germany.
Good luck! | | This user would like to thank Adi86 for this useful post: | |

Good luck! | | | | | We are looking at a 1.2 petrol 16v. Considering the no Power Steering model still, as the price gap with other makes narrows significantly when you upgrade to the model that can take options. It could be the engine derived from an older Clio or something.
So far I haven't managed to get anything thrown in, not even mats.

I know Javeir at Auto Wild and have for about 3 years, he's a sound guy and if there is a deal to be done he'll find a way and he did me a cracker on my last car.We talked about a Duster as a work vehicle only and he said that there is almost zero margin on these cars as they are being sold so cheap anyway.
So don't hold your breath for anything major in terms of concessions, as they a good little motor for not a lot of cash.

It all depends on what your plans are for the car. If they are to keep if for a short period, say 2 or 3 years and then swap it, a Dacia is not going to hold value and without options it will be very hard to sell.
If howevr you plan to keep it for a good time for use as a second car, otorised shopping trolley, kids' taxi etc then what options you put n it are a question of personnel choice and comfort.
