Range Rover Evoque

Hi guys!

I am absolutely in love with this car, therefore I am planning to order it very soon. I've tested it in Emil Frey (outside Basel) and of course I couldn't sense anything wrong with it. Apparently it was also voted the car of the year- 2011.
I will not buying it in Switzerland because it costs at least twice as much but in Uk. Also ,the delivery time is much shorter over there. In Emil Frey I was told that if I order it now it will probably be ready for collection in September- October, while in the UK it will take roughly 2 months.
Now, I would like to hear from other people who probably have tested it,own it or they simply have more technical knowledge than myself.

Thank you!

Don't own that car but good luck with converting it to Swiss standards and insuring it as a RHD. Going to be fun as well driving into car parks and grabbing tickets from the "wrong" side. Sorry for being cynical but I drove here for a year with my RHD and we just bought our new car from a Swiss dealer. So nice to be on the correct side and no problems taking the car back to the dealer when there are problems. I would reconsider buying in the uk.

Re: Range Rover Evoque

Buy it in Britain, Belgium, Germany or France, but with Swiss specifications! Do not import a foreign car without Swiss specification!

Thanks for the reply. I will order it left hand side as I've already spoken to the dealer in London. I won't be able to drive it otherwise
Regarding the insurance...I found one in Zurich which would insure me while driving it from Uk to Switzerland. It's not cheap but at least I am safe.

No it doesn't.

The price mentioned in the link is cheaper than the guide price on landrover.com ( http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/rr/ra...-evoque/build/ )

According to Autoscout, there are 45 new Evoques available in Switzerland with no delivery time.

Re: Range Rover Evoque

You really need to look into this thoroughly! There are loads of posts here, wailing and moaning about the cost of converting headlights, fog lights etc.
You might order a car from UK with an engine that is not sold here, then how would you get spare parts?

http://www.englishforum.ch/search2.php?q=importing+car

It is much more than just where the steering wheel is, much more!

Re: Range Rover Evoque

What you see on that website is the basic prise, without any option. Furthermore , the final price I've obtained from the dealer was 74.900 CHF while in Uk with same options+ delivery will only be around 45.000 GBP. So, I guess the options make the final price.

Base price in UK is GBP 27,995 = CHF 40,770
Base price in CH is CHF 44,770

You could probably get them down to around the same price for one of the cars in stock and not have to deal with the hassle of importing it or the wait.

Sorry, it's my mistake here. The price I was given from Emil Frey was for the Range Rover Pure and I wanted the Prestige model.

That's also true. I am not looking forward for driving it in the centre of London on the other side. I hope I find better quotes in Switzerland. It will be ideal.

We were looking at one of these as well. They are pretty swank. But at the end of the day, I think it's just too much money to spend for a commuter car to and from the train station.

But I'd be happy to go on road trips with you!

You are right here. While in UK I didn't buy a car and I had to rely on the british tube and pray not to have another strike. It is really a different thing living in Switzerland. But, on the other hand I'd like to visit the little villages in Switzerland, in France... and I pay too much on renting cars. Not to mention shopping... it's a pain carrying all those things.I am fed up with this "fitness training".

But I'd be happy to go on road trips with you! [/QUOTE]

P.S. Why not?!

Absolutely. A colleague of mine did this recently. LHD, swiss spec and made a real saving over buying in Switzerland. Only "hassle" was picking it up in the UK.

It is worth contacting different kind of Emil Frey branches for a price.

In Switzerland I've only spoken to this one outside Basel because I thought trying to speak with another dealer from the same company won't bring me a better offer because he has registered me in his system and probably all the other guys will see he has given me an official quotation. Isn't so?

I would like to know who this agent is and how they are intending to cover this.

I would be super surprised if they can officially and legally offer this cover; I would surmise that unless the car is matriculated here pre importation, which I can't see is possible, if you had a crash on the way over or here on the British plates your policy would in-fact be null and void.
