| | | Different train same hour same plataform!?
Hallo!
I want to go by train to Zurich Airport from Aarau, it seems there is two trains but they are in the same plataform and the same hour!
I want to go in the one that goes directly, can somebody explain this to me?
Thanks |

Don't worry, it's the same train, for some reason it's given you the option of getting off the direct train to the airport to jump on another train for a slightly quicker route.
Just stay on the ICN 515, it'll stop at zurich for 10 mins or so, then carry on to the airport.

If they're the same train, how come one arrives later and at a different platform? |

If you were Swiss you would understand. Time is money.
If the person changes trains in Zürich, he can get to the airport precisely four minutes earlier. This will give him more time to battle with the trollies up the escalators at the airport. If he stays in the original train, he will have less battle time.
Going from Pfäffikon to Basel you can do the same thing sometimes. Stay in the train in the warm but get to Basel later. Or, in Zurich main station, change to the IC on the other side of the platform and get to Basel about six minutes earlier.

For those who may think its worth doing a dash at Zürich HB to arrive some minutes earlier, there is an alternative connection that lets you do that.

Bhf. that you would never have reached otherwise. I think the present timetable doesn't have any such connections, but it's useful to bear in mind when things are running late.

Basically ICN515 goes from Aarau, into Zürich HB, sits there for a bit while the driver walks to the other end of the train (and a bit of sitting around time to allow it to leave on time if it arrives late, Zürich HB is a dead-end station), turns right, goes to the airport (and likely continues on somewhere a bit further). While ICN515 is doing its thing sitting in the station, another train, IC815 that was already in the station, leaves and goes off to wherever it goes, calling at the airport on the way. If you're in a hurry, you can change to IC815 to get to the airport a little bit quicker, but if you have lots of luggage and spare time, you may as well stay put and arrive a little bit later.

For 4 minutes is not worth changing trains. Assuming you are not desperate for time
